Danilo Petrucci: “I feel like the Ducati Panigale V4 is a bit mine” [EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW]
The MotoGP rider: "I was the test driver of the first V2 and I want to find out how it evolved"
The smile, the cheerfulness and all the gas he gives to his Ducati they are all elements that make you fit Danilo Petrucci in the ranks of those who best represent the spirit of World Ducati Week. We interviewed him exclusively before competing in the Flat Track Race and the opportunity was good to talk about his present and his future on Ducati.
Danilo, the first part of the season ended on Sunday. What budget can you make?
“I'm happy that this little break is coming to meet the fans at World Ducati Week. Being among fans is always nice. I'm quite happy with how this first part of the season went. Too bad about the stop in Assen. I'm looking forward to the second half of the championship to be not only happy but satisfied."
Can you maintain the necessary concentration knowing that an official Ducati awaits you next year?
"Yes. I'm experiencing a situation of peace because, being good for next year, I can concentrate on having good races without having pressure. For me it's the ideal situation. I want to enjoy the next half of the championship to understand what my weakest punishments are and work on them."
And what do you think you have improved at?
“I have grown a lot in the way I work with the garage and last winter I worked a lot on my riding style. There is still some work to do to try to manage the tires as best as possible and try to be the fastest of the Ducatis, but it is clear that it has not passed on all the circuits."
Have you already made contact with the Panigale V4?
“I'll try it tomorrow and I'm curious. I was the test rider of the first Panigale, the last V2. Years have passed and I'm curious to find out how what I feel like my bike has evolved."
Trick question: are you passionate about motorbikes or speed?
“I would say more about speed, but in reality I am passionate about wheels. I like bikes, cars, but speed gives a unique sensation."
To conclude: what is your relationship with the road?
“I don't go much because I'm afraid of going fast. I have a Scrambler that I take nice rides with, but on the road it's better to keep the gas under control."
