Coronavirus, Confindustria ANCMA: if necessary, the use of two-wheeled vehicles is recommended

During this period of containment of the ongoing health emergency, there are still people who are forced to move to the city for work or necessity reasons. Precisely for those who have to move, the advice is to use bicycles, common or electrically assisted, but also two-wheeled vehicles with engine or type electric, encouraging easy movement and thus avoiding the risk of close contact, as reported by Confindustria ANCMA.

The opinion

The use of two-wheeled vehicles, taking up the gist of the text, can for example avoid the use of public transport to move around the city. Precisely by nature, it is difficult if not unlikely to avoid being in close contact with other individuals on surface public transport vehicles or in the subway. This is currently not recommended and should be avoided, so as not to allow further potential infections which would place further stress on the healthcare system which is already largely active in this period.
Another aspect to keep in mind is the absence of traffic in the various cities, given that almost the entire population is staying at home and the suspension of disciplinary, cultural, sporting and social events or activities. Precisely the low circulation recorded these days makes the city streets safer for traveling on two-wheeled vehicles. Usually the most sensitive road users on the different arteries due to the concomitant presence of cars and heavy vehicles. These can now circulate more easily, bearing in mind that it is still necessary to justify their movements via self-certification and that these needs are actually proven by work-related or emergency needs. Otherwise you may risk sanctions and complaints. So if it's not necessary, the important thing is to stay at home.
It should also be noted that the workshops for any repairs or maintenance of bicycles, scooters or motorbikes are open, precisely to provide support in the event of faults or anomalies. In summary, the use of two-wheeled vehicles can be a valid alternative in this difficult period, in case of need or to travel to your workplace. Otherwise, if you can work from home, it is better to stay put and contribute together with millions of Italians in this tough battle to contain the dangerous spread of the virus.
