Continental Optimized Curve Braking – Last year there Bosch introduced the system ABS for braking when cornering and now Continental is challenging the competition with the launch of similar technology.

By taking roll, pitch, lateral acceleration and lean angle into account, the Continental Optimized Curve Braking system allows better braking at the same time keeps the motorcycle in an upright position. The BMW S1000XR it will be the first production motorcycle to make use of Continental Optimized Curve Braking and we can expect all future BMW motorcycles to be supplied with this technology straight away.

The European Union has established that ABS must be mandatory for all motorcycles over 125 cc starting from January 1 2016, for existing models, e from 1 January 2017, for all new production models. All motorcycle manufacturers are already working gradually to keep up with the new continental legislation and, since the ABS system will be made mandatory, two-wheel manufacturers will now be cforced to work much harder to distinguish their more advanced models from the basic ones.

The introduction of the optimized Continental Optimized Curve Braking system is not a surprise considering that Bosch has already introduced the same system with the KTM Super Adventure 1290. According to some manufacturers, the Bosch and Continental systems are certainly good news for the end user.
