Confindustria ANCMA, the National Cycle, Motorcycle and Accessories Association, presented in Milan in recent days the first app in Italy dedicated to motorbike safety: MOTO.APP.
This new support allows two-wheel enthusiasts to record journeys, monitor driving style, analyze and share information and data, and also allows them to receive personalized advice.

“Safety is one of the association's priorities; a central theme that we carry forward in our institutional activity, in requests to the legislator and in important communication campaigns, such as the one for promoting the use of back protectors. The app technologically expands this horizon and enriches it with an educational contribution to improve the behavior of motorcyclists, which also becomes an additional opportunity for sharing and discussion for the community of enthusiasts" - declared the president Andrea Dell'Orto – “Motorcycle manufacturers and suppliers of technical components constantly invest in research and development to raise the active safety standards of motorcycles. And even the manufacturers of technical clothing have introduced important developments in this area in recent years: our job is to enhance and harmonize this commitment, which however cannot be nullified by external phenomena such as neglect in the maintenance of road surfaces and infrastructures".

Still on the subject of safety, Confindustria ANCMA has also launched the #bastabuche campaign to raise awareness among institutions of the risk of accidents caused by potholes and irregularities in the road surface.

“Bastabuche was created to send a strong signal. It will move on two fronts: on the one hand with the involvement of testimonials and journalists, who will periodically be given a mobile phone to immortalize potholes on urban roads and share them on social profiles with the dedicated hashtag; on the other through the specific section of the app that we are presenting today, where the shots of the users themselves will automatically allow potholes to be geolocalised on the city map directly on everyone's devices. Confindustria ANCMA will collect all reports and will periodically communicate the updated situation to local institutions” – explained Pier Francesco Caliari, general director of the association.

Alessio Pitidis of the Istituto Superiore di Sanità, an expert in the field of accident control and prevention, confirmed that "the risk of road accidents from potholes and irregularities in the pavement is a topical issue that arouses interest in public opinion and in everyone the actors of the road system. It is therefore necessary to provide reliable information, based on the best available evidence, on the impact of the phenomenon and the available prevention measures. It is positive that all those involved in the use and management of the "road system" pay attention to the issue of safety: the promotion of road safety can bring benefits both in terms of the health of the population and the well-being of the community, as demonstrated by the strong reduction in road accidents in Italy in the last decade. Therefore, it is a good idea for two-wheeler and accessory manufacturer associations to pay attention to the issue of safety, as part of their activities, and develop solutions aimed at promoting it. Today we pay attention to the issue of infrastructural safety, but let's not forget the other two fundamental components of road safety, which are human behavior and the characteristics and methods of use of vehicles: it is desirable that the widest and most effective diffusion possible is promoted, with innovative technical methods more suitable for the young population and for interaction with road users, information on correct behavioral norms and effective ways of preventing accidents, at an individual and collective level".

La community platforms it is one of the central concepts of the new app also from an implementation perspective: in the next releases it will in fact be possible to create, for example, a real personalized virtual motorbike club, where among other opportunities you can meet nearby motorcyclists and compare the progress made insecurity.

The application, developed by Milan-based B2C Innovation, can work on three levels:

Starter level, which allows you to immediately download it for free, register and associate your motorbike. In this access level the app records the motorbike journey via the phone's GPS: just press start to begin the user experience and receive information on the route taken.

Explorer level: it is the medium level, which allows you to record your motorbike routes automatically via a small device (dongle) connected directly to the motorbike which communicates with the app via Bluetooth and allows you to have more detailed statistics.

Adventure Level, the premium operating range of the app: through the installation of MOTO.BOX or any black box it allows the rider to keep the position of the motorbike and the state of the vehicle under control. At this level it is also possible to activate a further safety function, which allows you to receive an alert via text message and email in the event of a flat or disconnected battery and the vehicle being moved with the engine off.
