It will feature the new 1811cc Thunderstroke engine

Chief Dark Horse – Images of Indian Motorcycle's new Chief Dark Horse have leaked online ahead of its official unveiling.

The new 2016 model presents itself as a new variant of the Chief Classic which uses the same engine 1811cc air-cooled V-twin, the new Thunderstroke engine, but with a single seat and a matte black paint. The parts that are chrome on the Chief Classic, including the forks, handlebars, headlight and speedometer housing, are black here, as are the engine and wheels. The model is new, the name a little less so. Dark Horse was in fact the name used by the previous one Stellican management for a version introduced in 2010, before Indian switched to the Polaris group in 2011 and which remained on the list until 2013.

The US brand said in a press release that “Indian Motorcycle, the first American motorcycle manufacturer, announces the launch of its new motorcycle and its first 2016 model year, the Chief Dark Horse. The newest member of the Indian Motorcycle range will be presented to the public in an event spanning two continents“. The highly anticipated Chief Dark Horse will be revealed to the US public in Chicago during Progressive International Motorcycle Show, which will start on Friday 13 February. The new Indian Chief Dark Horse will be formally unveiled at 5:30 pm local time.
