Cagiva – Speaking with Varese News, the executive vice president of MV Agusta, George Girelli, let slip a series of interesting curiosities about the Italian brand and the most important news, however, concerns another company, Cagiva. Recognizing the rumors circulating regarding the relaunch of the historic brand, Girelli was quick to point out that it is not in the plans of the Schiranna brand, but that the possibility is actually real.

Girelli suggested that Cagiva it would make more sense how purely off-road brand and, therefore, to complete MV Agusta's road offers. MV Agusta's current strategic plan calls for the brand to produce in approximately the "pretty near future." 20.000 units, with a focus on growth outside Italy and in particular in Western Europe and North America. The 2015 goal, for now, is 12.000 units.

20.000 is an important figure, as it typically represents the volume that can ensure stability and success for an international brand. Cagiva's addition of volume, particularly in the off-road segment, would, therefore, be the icing on the cake for MV Agusta and its coffers. "For us the relaunch of Cagiva is a dream and we would very much like to bring it back to life in off-road. At the moment we are not yet in an operational study phase of the project, but we do not rule out anything in the near future. Now we are very busy growing the company.” Giorgio Ghirelli, who arrived in June 2013 after working for 12 years at Banca Generali, for which he first held the role of CEO and then president, told Varese News. To the specific question whether an alliance with another brand is conceivable for the realization of the Cagiva project, the executive vice president of MV Agusta responded. “The formulas can be very varied. However, keep in mind that off-road motorcycles are much simpler to build than super sports bikes. I repeat, there are many possible paths for a relaunch of Cagiva.”

It's not surprising to read Girelli's words, though MV Agusta he has a lot of work ahead of him before he starts thinking about “distractions” like Cagiva.
