BMW R 18: World Premiere on 3 April 2020

The presentation of the new BMW R 18, the cruiser animated by an engine “Big Boxers”, is scheduled for 3 April 2020.

Information and various contents are expected after the presentation. The new BMW R 18 follows the interesting prototype admired on the occasion of the past Concorso d'Eleganza Villa D'Este and its sportier interpretation called R 18 / 2.
The beating heart is new “Big Boxers”, a twin-cylinder unit from 1.802 cc of new concept.
The gearbox has 6 gears that always engage, present in a double-section aluminum body. A design similar to that of a 4-shaft transmission with pairs of helical gears, dampers and sprockets. The options also include reverse gear, which can be engaged manually and connected to an intermediate gear and an electric motor. A cardan transmission shaft delivers the torque to the rear wheel, taking up a historical technical factor and on the gearbox there is a tripod joint, still taking up the indications in this regard.
The dry clutch with single disc transmits the developed torque to the transmission, created as a self-reinforcing anti-hopping element, dampening the overhang of the rear wheel linked to the engine's drag torque, along the fast gear scans. It is the highest capacity twin-cylinder Boxer ever proposed on series models and the overall weight is 110,8 kg, including gearbox and intake system.
A power of 91 horses (67 kW) at 4.750 rpm, with a torque peak of 158 Nm already at 3.000 rpm. From 2.000 to 4.000 rpm, over 150 Nm of torque are indicated, still matching the reported values ​​and a maximum speed at 5.750 rpm.
