BMW S1000R, it is a naked but hides a real superbike

BMW S1000RR loses an "R" and goes from a very powerful superbike, to very bad streetfighter. As happened on the "RR", also in this case the engine is certainly the strong point of the bike. In street fighter configuration it delivers 160 HP at 11.000 rpm and 112 Nm at 9.250. Making a parallel, it means that about 2000 rpm have been lost in favor of amore useful delivery at medium-low speeds. To achieve what was desired, the engine ducts in the cylinder head were redesigned and the cam profiles were recalculated. At a software level, however, engine management has been adapted with new programming of the BMS-X control unit.

High handlebars and such substantial torque will cause the front wheel to distance itself from the asphalt strip over and over again. To watch over the pilot's right wrist (Drive by wire e-gas accelerator), the cusual dose of electronics: DTC, DDC are optional, while ASC and Race-ABS are offered as standard. Thanks to these systems that communicate with each other, it is possible to customize the motorbike according to one's wishes and preferences. This offers a remarkable increase in safety, especially when the road surface is subject to frequent changes. DTC (Dynamic Traction Control) and DDC (Dynamic Damping Control), allow you to exploit the great potential of the S 1000 R even on the circuit. An example? The DTC traction control is equipped with a sensor that measures the inclination and thus offers the highest level of standard technology currently available to increase safety and driving dynamics during acceleration, even with the motorbike leaning heavily.

Given the high-performance chassis base available, the technicians limited themselves to making a little adjustment here and there. So the reliable remains double beam frame in light alloy of the S 1000 RR with the engine acting as a load-bearing element. Similarly to the "RR", the front and rear suspensions are made respectively as an adjustable upside-down fork and a double arm with a single adjustable central shock absorber. The adaptation to the Roadster driving style involved a modification of the chassis geometry. When braking takes place, a double disc braking system with two fixed calipers and four radial pistons on the front wheel and a single disc brake at the rear, to which the Semi-integral Race-ABS.

This new streetfighter aims, needless to say, to provide a supersport driving experience, aiming to become the reference in the segment. BMW Motorrad also makes it available for the S1000R a complete list of options from a performance perspective and also from a light-touring perspective such as screen, saddle and tank bags, heated grips. Added to this are the LED indicators, Akrapovic exhaust, electro-assisted gearbox.
