BMW S 1000 RR: innovations and sporting determination for 2023

The new BMW S1000RR it is the result of an evolution of several aspects, considering aesthetics, chassis, assistance solutions, suspensions and propulsion heart.

Technique and technology

One of the key factors remains the aluminum bridge frame, made up of four gravity die-cast elements. The structure integrates the engine, inclined forward by 32 degrees which acts as a load-bearing element.
Considering the lateral flexibility, according to the information the main frame is characterized by various openings in the lateral areas. During the definition, a further increase in driving precision was also considered. A flattening of the steering head angle by 0,5° was reported, as was a reduction of 3 millimeters in the offset of the steering plates.

The peak power of the inline four-cylinder engine now reaches i 210 horses (154 kW) at 13.750 rpm, an increase of 3 horsepower (2 kW) over the previous example. The couple vertex is 113 Nm at 11.000 rpm. A wider rev range is also highlighted with a maximum figure of 14.600 rpm.
Among the innovations is the new function Brake Slide Assist and“Slick” setting, talking about ABS-Pro. The new Brake Slide Assist function is suitable for enthusiasts who frequent the tracks and is linked to steering angle sensors. Allows the rider to set a specific braking drift angle during cornering action.

Also mentioned a function Slide Control considering the Dynamic Traction Control DTC. The rider can choose two pre-set drift angles for the traction control system, when accelerating out of corners. A possibility achieved with the use of a steering angle sensor. Up to the respective inclination angle, the traction control system allows the rear wheel to slip during acceleration when exiting corners, encouraging the rear wheel to drift. When the pre-set steering angle value is reached, the traction control intervenes to reduce slip and provide stability.

The model for 2023

In the front area the winglets stand out. They are appendages that favor the increase in load during acceleration. Aerodynamics, additional load on the wheels and downforce are functional to attenuate the tendency to wheelie, strengthening stability. Overall, the front area has been redefined and there is a bold and lightened rear section.
Three colors are combined with the Bavarian brand's sports car: Blackstorm metallic, Lightwhite non-metallic/BMW M e Style Passion in Racing Red non-metallic.
