BMW R nineT Scrambler: with a unique spirit and purist design identifies the Heritage [MEGA GALLERY]

The technique and quality typical of the German brand is not lacking

BMW R nineT Scrambler – BMW Motorrad now presents the new BMW R nineT Scrambler, a motorcycle that revives the era of the Scrambler models in a very special style. The BMW R nineT Scrambler is equipped with everything that distinguishes this type of motorcycle, is characterized by a unique spirit and was created for motorcycling enthusiasts who love purist design, reduced to the essential and non-conformist, combined with the technique and quality of a BMW. Together with the Roadster nineT, the BMW Scrambler identifies Heritage, a new world of BMW Motorrad.

The Boxer with a displacement of 1170 cm• with air/oil cooling was fitted in the R nineT Scrambler. The engine delivers 81 kW (110 HP) at 7.750 rpm and develops a maximum torque of 116 Nm at 6.000 rpm. Thanks to the new engine mapping and the fuel supply system with activated carbon filter, it meets Euro 4 emission standards. The affinity with a classic Scrambler model is confirmed by the high-mounted exhaust system, with the two terminals arranged one above the other. The tubes were attached particularly close to the vehicle, thus further intensifying the already streamlined look. The system provides a particularly deep boxer sound while simultaneously complying with the ECE R41-04 acoustic test standard. The large catalytic converter also ensures efficient exhaust gas purification.

To ensure the Scrambler image, the front suspension was made with a telescopic fork with rubber bellows and 125 millimeters of travel. The rear suspension is a single-arm Paralever, as in the other models with a Boxer engine. The support and cushioning task is carried out by a central shock absorber. Travel is 140 millimeters. The new Scrambler from BMW is equipped with forged alloy wheels. In typical Scrambler style, the front wheel is 19 inches with a 120/70-19 front tire and a 170/60-17 rear tire. The high driving dynamics of the R nineT Scrambler are enhanced by a braking system equipped as standard with ABS, 4-piston brake calipers, stainless steel brake hoses and front brake discs with a diameter of 320 millimetres. At the rear, the 265 mm diameter single disc brake with floating caliper and 2 pistons ensures reliable deceleration.

One of the main features of a Scrambler model is the upright, relaxed seating position. For this reason the ergonomic triangle, consisting of handlebars - seating surface - footrests, was defined from scratch. In comparison with the R nineT, the handlebars have been positioned higher, the seating surface has slightly thinner padding and the footrests are placed lower, further back, so as to create a truly relaxed riding feeling. Regardless of whether it is equipped with forged alloy wheels as standard or with the optional cross-spoke wheels: the new R nineT Scrambler always presents itself in a refined style. An important design goal was to reduce the number of components in favor of the most purist image possible. The mix of classic and modern stylistic elements of motorcycling distinguishes the new BMW Motorrad Scrambler from all perspectives. The circular headlight gives it an expression of freedom, class and relaxation, while the speedometer featuring an analogue indicator, follows in its clean design the classic principles applied to the development of the BMW Scrambler. Two styling elements that will undoubtedly not go unnoticed are the 17-litre sheet steel tank and the thin sheet aluminum cover on the right above the intake air duct with the engraved R nineT lettering. The new BMW Motorrad Scrambler was also shown in a nice summary video created by our friends at Motorlands.
