Patterns with boxer hearts

La BMW R nineT 100 Years features an air/oil-cooled two-cylinder boxer engine 109 horses (80 kW), while the BMW R18 100 Years it is animated by another voluminous boxer unit, the largest displacement ever introduced by BMW Motorrad. The expressed power reaches i 91 horses (67kW).

Aesthetics and contents

new BMW R nineT 100 Years e R 18 100 Years they have several details that emphasize their elegance, referring to the construction tradition of the Bavarian brand. The design of both is reinforced by a livery Classic Chrome, looking at the chrome surfaces with high-quality paintwork and elements Option 719 .
Remembering for example the historical one BMW R75/5 with the sides of the tank and the chrome side covers, this combination takes shape again with the exclusive celebratory examples and the Classic Chrome surface concept, in the Heritage context of the brand.

La BMW R 18 100 Years, as mentioned, is covered in Classic Chrome with a black color flanked by shiny chrome surfaces and enriched by a double white piping and a 100 Years badge. The Classic Chrome concept returns on the rear mudguard, where the double white thread is present, just as the front mudguard and side covers are black, in this case the double white thread appears on the front mudguard. Among the characteristic elements there is also an Option 719 seat with a diamond embossing and a two-tone black/oxblood dress.
The engine is also black, as is the rear axle drive and the transmission housing. Specifically, it is an Avus Black, a color referring to the well-known high-speed track in Berlin, where BMW Motorrad was a protagonist in the past.
Among the solutions focused on safety and comfort, several devices are mentioned: Headlight Pro with adaptive cornering light, heated grips, reverse system and electronic cruise control. Among the optional equipment, it is possible to adopt: Hill Start Control, passenger package, footrests, power reduction, anti-theft alarm system and lockable fuel cap.
Returning to the aesthetic part, there are various chromed parts of the Chrome design option, a high quality galvanized coating which appears on: handlebar clamps, mirrors, gear and foot brake levers, handlebar counterweights, handlebar fittings, covers crankcase, cylinder head covers, intake manifold gaskets, brake calipers and brake master cylinders.
Also featured are chrome-plated Akrapovič rear silencers with perforated tailpipe finishers in the “propeller style,” a reference to the BMW logo.

Moving on to BMW R nineT 100 Years, the tank is covered in a combination of black and chrome with a double white fillet. There are also protectors in the knee area and a 100 Years badge. The black paint and double white piping also return on the front mudguard and more chrome on the seat hump. The seat is in two-tone black/oxblood.
The equipment includes adaptive cornering lights and the Comfort package with heated grips, cruise control and Driving Modes Pro. Among the factory options there is also an anti-theft alarm system which can also be fitted subsequently, consulting the range of Original BMW Accessories Motorrad.
Also highlighted are several black components, for example the fork tubes, the air intake snorkel and some elements of the Option 719, as reported.
According to information, the exclusive R nineT 100 Years also includes the Option 719 Shadow II milled parts package, consisting of adjustable handlebar levers and a footrest system, passenger footrests, as well as fluid expansion tank covers brakes and mirrors attached to the ends of the handlebars; the Option 719 Shadow milled parts package with milled cylinder head covers, engine crankcase covers, seat mounts, oil filler cap; then the 719 Classic wheel option with black anodized rims.

The beginnings

For each model they are provided 1.923 specimens, a number that commemorates the year BMW Motorrad was founded, 1923.
The first BMW motorcycle, the historic R 32, was presented in September 1923, but as recalled, already in December 1922 the chief designer Max Friz had started working on the first full-scale motorcycle.
