BMW R 18: two Italians in the semi-finals of the customization contest [PHOTO]

La BMW R 18 For years now, it has been the model on which numerous motorbike enthusiasts create fascinating customizations, so the German brand decided to create a contest, called 'Your Choice 100 years'. The first part of the competition has already taken place and has qualified two Italians for the final phase.

The first phase took place from 15 May to 16 July, at a national level, where the best projects were voted via web, qualifying the two winners for the international semi-finals. In Italy, 30 dealers had registered and, on Wednesday, the winners were awarded exclusive prizes House of BMW in Via Montenapoleone in Milan. These are 'Irene' by BMW Motorrad Roma and 'Sturm und Drang' by Top Motors, as well as three other special prizes.

'Irene' was created by the collaboration of three different artists, also highlighting "100 years of Motorrad by creating a lived-in bodywork but in line with the R18 heritage style". TheSturm und Drang', instead, offers a black and gray color scheme to “capture the essence of rebellious energy”.

The final phase

The two Italians will participate in the semifinal, scheduled from 25 July to 25 August, together with the other national winners from Australia, Austria, Canada, China, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Japan, Mexico, Poland, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, Ukraine, the United Kingdom and the United States.

They will be judged by a panel of experts, including renowned trainers such as Thor Drake, Michael Lichter and Roland Sands. This jury will select the six best bikes, which will qualify for the world final, scheduled in Berlin on 28 and 29 September, on the occasion of the BMW Motorrad Welt. When the winner will be announced.
