In a new film proposed by BMW Motorrad on YouTube, the different aspects of the new ones are summarized BMW R18B e BMW R18 Transcontinental.

Following Tobias Licht in the film, the characteristics of the specimens emerge.
The first is a “Bagger”, the second a tourer with distinctive “streamlining” including the front fairing, suitcases and a top case. The R 18 B does not have a top case and is equipped with a low windshield, a thinner seat placed at a height of 720 millimeters and engine in matt black metallic. The seat of the BMW R 18 Transcontinental is placed at a height of 740 mm.
These examples recall the style of the great cruisers and tourers of the past, noting several elegant details such as the double ring tubular frame, the 24 liter teardrop fuel tank, a finish with a double white stripe (optional ex works) and the open cardan transmission . We also highlight the suspension part which recalls a tradition, given a bilateral swingarm and a cantilever suspension system.
With the market launch, versions will be available R 18 B First Edition e R 18 Transcontinental First Edition with distinctive features such as a black finish with a double white stripe, the words “First Edition” and high-quality stitching on the seat.

There is also a proposal for original BMW Motorrad accessories to personalize the new models, adopting milled aluminum parts developed in collaboration with Roland Sands Design and exclusive options under the name “Option 719”, such as the Option 719 Galaxy Dust metallic finish.
Instrumentation includes four circular analog instruments it's a 10,25 inch TFT color display. For those who love music, a Marshall audio system is highlighted, created in collaboration with the British manufacturer, with 2-way speakers integrated into the front part of the fairing, characterized by speakers with black grilles and white Marshall writing. There are also Marshall Gold Series Stage 1 and Stage 2 audio solutions proposed as optional ex works for enhanced listening, using up to 4 speakers and 2 subwoofers with 280 watts of total power.
Options include: a Hill Start Control function to facilitate hill starts, an assisted reverse gear and an Active Cruise Control (ACC) which promotes comfort with distance control using radar sensors integrated into the front fairing, strengthening the safety even when cornering, as previously reported.

Setting

The models feature a double-cradle tubular steel frame with a rear beam made of pressed sheet metal parts with welded joints between the steel tubes and forged or cast parts.
On the models the location of the footrests is extended or "central", behind the cylinders, benefiting a comfortable and functional driving position for control. The new R 18 B has wider footrests than those of the R 18, while on the new R 18 Transcontinental the footrests are standard.
Also indicated are three driving modes: “Rain”, “Roll” e "Rock". Also highlighted are solutions such as ASC (Automatic Stability Control) to support safety, as well as engine drag torque control (MSR) and electronic cruise control DCC (Dynamic Cruise Control) with automatic management of the set driving speed by the driver.
Up front there is a telescopic fork with fork covers and 49 mm stanchions, behind a cantilever suspension system mounted on the rear swingarm. The rear suspension includes a progressive shock absorber and automatic load compensation. Suspension travel reaches 120 mm. The braking system includes a double disc brake at the front and a single disc at the rear in combination with rigid four-piston calipers. The diameter of the disc is 300 mm in both cases and a Full Integral ABS solution linked to BMW Motorrad is also indicated.
The engine is a Twin-cylinder “Big Boxer”., a heart from 1.802 cc. The power reaches 91 horses (67 kW) at 4.750 rpm and between 2.000 and 4.000 rpm a torque of over 150 Nm is delivered.
