It adopts a new boxer engine, new suspensions and reduces weight by 12 kg

La BMW R 1300 GS writes a new chapter in the glorious history of the GS range, establishing itself once again, after over 40 years of presence on the market, as a point of reference in the enduro touring sector. The Bavarian company has further raised the BMW GS experience with a profound renewal that concerns both its technical and technological characteristics and aesthetics.

Regarding the look, the main novelty of the new BMW R 1300 GS is the farewell to the double asymmetrical front headlight, an element that has characterized it for years, now replaced with a single LED headlight that forms an X to recall its off-road nature.

Lightened by 12 kg, it has a new 145 HP boxer engine

The evolution of the BMW R 1300 GS, which It reduced the overall weight by 12kg compared to the previous model, it then continues on a mechanical level, with the new 1300 cc two-cylinder boxer engine which benefits from a new arrangement of the camshafts and the gearbox (lightened by 4 kg) positioned under the engine. The new engine, which is the most powerful BMW series boxer ever, delivers a power of 145 CV and a maximum torque of 149 Nm available at 6.500 rpm. Equipped as standard with the anti-hopping function that allows you to precisely set the engine braking, the new Elica bike has four selectable riding modes: Road, Rain, Eco and Enduro.

DSA active suspensions

Rigidity increases thanks to the sheet steel shell frame, while the rear subframe, which forms a thinner and sharper tail, is now made of die-cast aluminium. Driving precision and stability also increase thanks to the refinements made by BMW to the Telelever Evo at the front and the Evo Paralever at the rear. It also improves ride comfort thanks to active suspension Dynamic Suspension Adjustment (DSA), available as an option, able to best adjust the setting in real time. Equipped with a 19-litre maximum capacity tank, the new motorcycle offers a seat with a height of 85 cm from the ground as standard, with the possibility of choosing from numerous saddles in the range that vary in height and shape.

New electronic aids

The new BMW R 1300 GS also grows on theelectronics, incorporating the systems present on touring models including radar for adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring and automatic emergency braking. The standard equipment also includes traction control and ABS. The instrumentation is digital with 6,5 inch color TFT display equipped with smartphone connectivity. 

List starting from €20.850

The new BMW R 1300 GS is proposed on the Italian market with prices starting from €20.850 (€500 more than the R 1250 GS). The arrival in dealerships is expected between December 2023 and January 2024.
