BMW R 1250 RT 2019: a high-performance and elegant touring motorcycle

BMW – It is a moment of great turmoil for BMW which wants to confirm its leadership in the maxi touring motorbike segment with two high-impact models: the BMW R 1250 GS (which we presented to you , promising) and the BMW R 1250 RT which we will discover together.

BMW R 1250 RT 2019: many new features for quality tourism

Thanks to the global evolution of boxer engine, the new R 1250 GS and R 1250 RT reach a new level of power and torque, but not only that. The silent operation and the smoothness of the ride, especially at low speeds, have also been significantly optimised. All this by reducing emission and fuel consumption values ​​thanks to the use of the innovative BMW ShiftCam technology thanks to which the intake camshafts have also been configured in such a way as to produce an asynchronous opening of the two intake valves, producing an enhanced vortex of the incoming fresh charge and therefore more efficient combustion.

Il new engine has a larger displacement – 1.254 cc compared to 1.170 before -, more power e more torque which reach 136 HP at 7.750 g/min and 143 Nm at 6.250 g/min respectively. The automatic stability control ASC (Automatic Stability Control), fitted as standard, ensures high driving safety thanks to the best possible traction. Me too'Hill Start Control starting assistant it is now fitted as standard in both models and allows for comfortable starting uphill. DTC enables even more efficient and safe acceleration, especially in an inclined position. ABS Pro (part of the Pro riding mode in the R 1250 GS, standard in the R 1250 RT) offers even more braking safety, even in an inclined position. The new Dynamic Brake Control DBC (Dynamic Brake Control) guarantees greater braking safety, even in difficult situations, preventing involuntary accelerator activation. An intervention in the engine management reduces the driving torque during braking, allowing full use of the braking power on the rear wheel. The bike remains stable and the stopping distance is shortened.

BMW R 1250 RT 2019: there's more than the engine

The new R 1250 RT 2019 is also equipped with electronic wheel adjustment Dynamic ESA “Next Generation” suspension, with fully automatic ride compensation: thanks to this system, the damping is automatically adapted to the circumstances of the moment, depending on the driving conditions and maneuvers and automatic ride compensation occurs in all load states. This allows precise adaptation of the motorcycle to riding conditions, achieving optimal comfort and cushioning and very stable road behavior.

Like its sister R 1250 GS, the R 1250 RT is also equipped with halogen headlights, while LED daytime running lights are available as an option. The RT features a 5,7-inch color TFT display, while the speedometer and tachometer are analog. The new R 1250 RT can also be equipped with Option 719 trim levels, such as Classic or Sport wheels, an exclusive seat or two special paints. Whoever decides to purchase the German touring maxi will be able to choose between three saddle variants. The split saddle with a height of 805/825 mm is provided as standard. There are also 760/780 mm and 830/850 mm variants. The new R 1250 RT is available in three color variants and two stylistic variants. Compared to the previous model, the engine spoiler has been redesigned and a new bug spoiler has been added. Furthermore, the configuration of the new exhaust manifold system catches the eye. These body modifications, together with the three color variants, respectively style variants, as well as two additional special paint finishes also give the new R 1250 RT a strong and original character.
