The new BMW R 1250 RS It includes interesting standard features and optional solutions that intensify its qualities. A summary picture can be seen in the film proposed by BMW Motorrad on YouTube.

The new model

The abbreviation “RS” of BMW Motorrad in the sport touring panorama indicates lively dynamism, combined with high-level ride comfort. The new BMW R 1250 RS it is offered in a basic version and in two other Sport and Triple Black variants. In the basic variant the aesthetic features are highlighted by a color Icegrey non-metallic, combined with a black frame.
The specimen Sport is recognizable by a dress consisting of Lightwhite non-metallic/Racingblue metallic/Racingred, combined with Frame in non-metallic Lightwhite. Also highlighted: windscreen, blue front spoiler, gold-coloured brake calipers in the front and rear area and single-seater rear, alternatively passenger package.
Moving on to that Triple black, the bodywork is covered in Metallic Blackstorm with frame painted in Agata Grey. Also highlighted are the Pure tank finishes, stainless steel engine spoiler, braking system calipers on both sides in gold color and single rear or, as previously mentioned, alternatively a passenger package.
The optional single-seater rear underlines the sportiness of the model and in this case the passenger seat is replaced by a painted plastic cover and the passenger footrests and handles are removed.
By adopting the passenger seat, however, the passenger package is proposed as an alternative package within the variants and features the components eliminated in the case of a single-seater area.

Technical and technological solutions

The bike presents new LED directional indicators redefined and a characterizing daytime running light, if this function is not permitted, the light icon is set as a parking light.
The instrumentation is visible on a TFT color display with integrated arrow navigation and connectivity function. The motorcyclist can choose between customized displays and we also highlight the "Sport" Core Screen with real-time information on the current and maximum lean angle, together with control interventions, such as those of ABS Pro or DTC.
The standard equipment also includes two different power sockets, a 12 volt on-board socket and an additional USB-A socket with 5 volt power. The latter, given newly developed charging electronics, allows you to charge a smartphone while driving. A charging current of up to 2.400 mA is proposed for fast charging depending on the type of smartphone.
Another important solution is an intelligent eCall emergency call system, not available in all countries, to receive rapid assistance.
Optional options include a seat heating system for the rider and that of the passenger. These are available in combination with two solo seats and exclusively in combination with heated grips. For the rider there is a new operating setting with five heating levels, while the passenger seat heating is set to two levels and is activated by a switch at the bottom left of the rear subframe.
Tubular handlebars are also available as a new factory option and as an original BMW Motorrad accessory. They are slightly wider and higher than standard handlebars and also less inclined. Together with the different saddles for the rider, offered as options or as original BMW Motorrad accessories, the ergonomics linked to the handlebars can now be individually adapted according to needs.

Technological aspects also include a partially integral BMW Integral ABS Pro and a Dynamic Brake Control (DBC) system as standard. The first is a braking system that intensifies safety when braking, even when cornering. As the concept of driving modes continues to expand, more functions are on the horizon. The ABS control will be adapted to the respective driving mode. As part of the “Riding Modes Pro” option, Dynamic Brake Control (DBC) supports the rider more in emergency braking maneuvers. DBC increases safety by preventing inadvertent activation of the accelerator. With an intervention on the engine control, the driving torque is attenuated during a slowdown, in order to exploit the braking power of the rear wheel.
There is also a standard DTC automatic stability control which promotes a high level of driving safety thanks to traction and a new standard "ECO" driving mode to maximize efficiency. The ECO driving mode allows the motorcyclist to use the sophisticated BMW Motorrad ShiftCam engine technology, in order to obtain considerable autonomy. By opting for ECO mode, you travel in the most fuel-efficient way possible, given a soft throttle curve and moderate engine torque limitation. On the TFT color display, in this case, the efficiency is highlighted in the upper status line; while if you want to have a great boost again, the riding mode button allows you to switch to another mode.
Then there is the optional "Riding Modes Pro" which, among other aspects, offers further configurable riding modes. Using the riding mode preselection function, the rider can individually set the modes on the appropriate button. Engine drag torque control (MSR) is another new feature of the Pro driving mode, used to avoid instability in the event of coasting or downshifting due to excessive engine braking on the rear wheel.

Motor

The motorcycle is equipped with a thruster 1.254 cc boxer twin and, given the BMW ShiftCam technology for the variation of the timing and lift of the valves on the intake side, according to the indications it offers robust power and smooth operation. In EU5 registration the power reaches quota 136 horses (100kW).
