EICMA 2018 BMW – On the occasion of the 2018 International Cycle and Motorcycle Exhibition, BMW presented some updates regarding the R 1250 in versions: R, RS and GS.

The most important news concerns the engine from the Elica company's motorcycle, a further developed boxer with BMW ShiftCam technology which allows you to vary the valve timing and stroke on the intake side. This translates into greater power, distributed across the entire engine speed, and lower consumption.

To quantify the improvement in power we have 136 HP at 7750 rpm and a maximum torque of 143 Nm at 6250 rpm against the 125 HP of the previous version and the 125 Nm of torque previously available. This is obviously also thanks to the increase in displacement which goes from 1170 cc to 1250. The drive of the camshaft also changes, first with rollers, now by chain. The updates also include the new exhaust system and the BMS-O engine control system.

Two driving modes are available: ASC and Hill Start Control as standard, and an additional Pro driving mode.
The suspension department is made up of a Dynamic ESA “Next Generation” electronic suspension with fully automatic load compensation

Going into the specifics of the different versions. R 1250 GS Adventure has a standard height saddle but with a wide range of variants available. The design features two new modern bases and two style variations. The 1250 RS has a completely redesigned LED headlight. It will be available in a basic color, with two variants and the Option 719 Spezial.

On the R 1250 R there is the possibility of equipping new sports handlebars. New front spoiler and cockpit cover (also for the 1250RS)

Multifunctional instrumentation with 6,5-inch color TFT is featured as standard in all models. The BMW R1250 GS will be equipped with the new Michelin Anakee Adventure tires, which will be launched on the market at the beginning of 2019. An absolute novelty developed for both road (80%) and offroad (20%) use, and promises excellent grip on wet road thanks to the new compound.

An infinite list of accessories is available for the three versions to customize every single detail of the motorbike.
