BMW R 1250 R and R 1250 RS 2023: an advanced roadster or sport touring experience

Distinctive liveries and shapes, together with interesting technological solutions, characterize the new ones BMW R 1250 R e R 1250 RS introduced for 2023, both powered by a muscular engine 1.254 cc two-cylinder boxer.

Evolved appearance and variations

The new BMW R 1250 R is offered in three liveries, starting with a basic model and other types Sport e Triple black.
The first setup is coated with a shade Icegrey non-metallic combined with a frame coated in black. While moving on to the Sport and Triple Black versions, offered as factory options, it is possible to opt between two definitions.

The Sport model features a dress Racingblue metallic combined with a white frame, as well as a blue front spoiler, black sports handlebars, rear only or alternatively a package for the passenger, then front and rear brake system calipers in a golden tone.

Finally, the Triple Black variant is covered in Metallic Blackstorm with Agate Gray frame and also features a Pure tank finish, engine spoiler and radiator grille in stainless steel, gold brake calipers and rear only or alternatively passenger package.
The rear option only highlights the sportiness of the model. The passenger seat is replaced by a painted plastic cover and the footrests and handles intended for the passenger are removed. The package is proposed as an alternative within the model variants, while maintaining the model suitable for accommodating a passenger. Includes the various excluded elements.

The new BMW R 1250 R is also recognizable by a redefined full LED headlight unit with a distinctive light signature and, upon request, it is possible to have an optional adaptive cornering light. A solution that activates additional LED elements equipped with their own reflectors, depending on the inclination angle of at least 7° at a speed greater than 10 km/h and the additional effect is visible up to an inclination angle of 25°, in based on the indications. There are also new LED-type directional indicators.

Moving on to BMW R 1250 RS, is a motorbike that falls within the panorama of sports touring equipped with strong dynamism and marked ride comfort. Also in this case, interesting features and optional solutions are highlighted.
There are always three types of proposal, varying from one basic model to the versions Sport e Triple black, as already seen in the case of roadster. The base model is covered in a non-metallic Icegrey color paired with a black chassis.

The Sport model is recognizable by a livery made up of a combination of Lightwhite non-metallic/Racingblue metallic/Racingred combined with a frame in Lightwhite non-metallic. Also included are elements such as: windscreen, blue front spoiler, gold-coloured brake calipers in the front and rear areas and a single-seater rear, alternatively a passenger package.

Finally, the Triple Black features a bodywork covered in Metallic Blackstorm and frame is in Agata Grey. Also standing out are Pure tank finishes, a stainless steel engine spoiler, gold-coloured braking calipers and again a single rear or alternatively a passenger package.

The optional single-seater rear reinforces the sporty vision and the passenger seat is replaced by a painted plastic cover and passenger footrests and handles are excluded. The passenger package is proposed as an alternative within the variants.

Technological features

Both models are equipped with sophisticated solutions that support comfort and performance.
The instrumentation is visible on one TFT color screen with “Sport” Core Screen, the rider can connect and select from customized views based on needs. The “Sport” Core Screen transmits real-time information on the lean angle and maximum angle, as well as on the action of the various control systems, such as ABS-Pro e DTC. The DTC automatic stability control is functional to safety and among the new features we highlight a new standard driving mode "ECO" focused on efficiency. Recall the qualities of technology BMW Motorrad ShiftCam linked to the engine to favor the maximum possible autonomy. The TFT color display indicates the type of efficiency in the upper status bar, based on the information and using a button you can select a program from the three present, according to your needs.

Among the new features, there is also a control of the engine drag torque (MSR), considering the Pro driving mode. It can be used to avoid unstable conditions that can occur when releasing the accelerator or when downshifting, due to excessive brake slip on the rear wheel.

The motorbike also has a system BMW Integral ABS Pro which further accentuates safety, even when cornering. As the concept of driving modes continues to evolve, new functions emerge. Given the optional Riding Modes Pro, the Dynamic Brake Control (DBC) supports the rider more during emergency braking phases. DBC increases braking safety by preventing involuntary activation of the accelerator. By acting on the engine control, the driving torque is limited during braking to use the braking power of the rear wheel. This preserves stability and reduces braking distance.
There are also two different power sockets, a 12-volt on-board socket and another USB-A with 5-volt power supply with newly developed charging electronics for charging a smartphone by connecting an adapter cable. You can have a charging current of up to 2.400 mA which supports fast charging depending on the type of smartphone. Also standard is an intelligent emergency call system (eCall) to provide rapid assistance in the event of an emergency, while the seat heating system for the rider and passenger is optional, which accentuates comfort during riding when traveling at low temperatures. temperatures. The heated saddles are offered with the two single seats and exclusively in combination with the heated grips, which can be managed via the menu. A new five-level heating system has been designed for the rider's seat, while for the passenger's seat there are two levels using a toggle switch at the bottom left.

Thruster
