In a video proposed by BMW Motorrad, on YouTube, the main aspects of the renovation are summarized BMW R 1250 R. A roadster refined from an aesthetic and technological point of view, always powered by a two-cylinder boxer engine.

A determined heart

The engine remains one 1.254 cc two-cylinder boxer, Euro 5, equipped with BMW ShiftCam technology for varying valve timing and lift on the intake side. The power reaches altitude 136 horses (100 kW) at 7.250 rpm and the torque is 143 Nm at 6.250 rpm.

An evolved aesthetic

At the front there is a redefined full LED headlight unit which projects a distinctive light signature and, upon request, an optional adaptive cornering light can be fitted. This works by activating additional LED elements equipped with their own reflectors, based on the angle of inclination. It works from at least 7° to a speed greater than 10 km/h and the additional effect is noticeable up to a tilt angle of 25°, according to the information. The model also features new LED directional indicators.
Three different liveries are worth mentioning, one of basis and two other variations Triple black e Sport. The first specimen has a color Icegrey non-metallic combined with a black colored frame. While with the Triple Black and Sport versions, offered as factory options, the interested party can opt between two peculiar definitions.

The Triple Black model is distinguishable by the bodywork Metallic Blackstorm with an agate gray chassis, Pure tank finish, stainless steel radiator grille, stainless steel engine spoiler, rear only or alternatively passenger package and gold brake calipers.
The Sport variant features a color scheme Racingblue metallic associated with a white frame, blue front spoiler, black sports handlebars, rear only or alternatively the package for the passenger and front and rear braking system calipers in gold color.
The new rear option only underlines the sportiness of the new one BMW R 1250 R. The passenger seat is replaced by a painted plastic cover and the footrests and handles intended for the passenger have been removed.
Keeping the BMW R 1250 R suitable to accommodate a passenger, the package is proposed as an alternative within the model variants. It includes the various excluded items.

More technological equipment

The instrument panel is color type TFT with “Sport” Core Screen as standard, the motorcyclist can connect and choose between customized views for various purposes. The “Sport” Core Screen provides real-time information on the lean angle and maximum angle, as well as on the action of the various control systems, such as DTC e ABS-Pro.
The DTC automatic stability control supports a high level of safety and among the new features highlights a new standard driving mode "ECO" for more efficient driving. This recalls the sophisticated qualities of the engine technology BMW Motorrad ShiftCam to encourage the greatest possible autonomy. In ECO mode you travel efficiently, the accelerator curve is smoother with a moderate limitation of the engine torque. The TFT color display indicates the type of efficiency in the top status bar, according to the information.
Motorcyclists who like a more lively type of riding, however, can use the riding mode button to choose another program from the three provided.

The bike can also be enriched with Riding modes Pro as an optional factory solution. This allows for further configurable driving modes. Via the riding mode preselection function, the rider can set the riding program on the designated button. Another interesting new feature is the control of the engine drag torque (MSR) when speaking of the Pro driving mode. It can be used to avoid unstable conditions that can occur when releasing the accelerator or when downshifting, due to excessive brake slip on the rear wheel, as mentioned.
The new BMW R 1250 R also features a BMW Integral ABS Pro system as standard which further accentuates safety, even when cornering. As the concept of driving modes continues to evolve, new functions are on the horizon. Furthermore, considering the optional Riding Modes Pro, Dynamic Brake Control (DBC) supports the rider more in emergency braking manoeuvres. DBC increases braking safety by preventing involuntary activation of the accelerator. By acting on the engine control, the driving torque is limited during braking to use the braking power of the rear wheel. This preserves stability and reduces the braking distance, according to information.
There are also two different power sockets, a 12-volt on-board power socket and an additional 5-volt USB-A socket with newly developed charging electronics for charging a smartphone by connecting an adapter cable. A charging current of up to 2.400 mA is available which supports fast charging depending on the type of smartphone. Also standard is a functional intelligent emergency call system (eCall) to provide rapid assistance in the event of an emergency, while the seat heating system for the rider and passenger is optional, which accentuates comfort while riding in the event of low temperatures. The heated saddles are offered in combination with the two single seats and exclusively in combination with the heated grips, which can be managed via the menu. A new five-level heating has been designed for the rider's seat, while for the passenger's seat there are two levels and the heating is activated by a toggle switch at the bottom left.
