BMW R 1200 RS Connectedride: powerful and safe like never before

The prototype was presented at the Connected Motorcycle Consortium 2017

Karl Viktor Schaller: "We want to collaborate with other manufacturers to have increasingly safer vehicles"

BMW R 1200 RS CONNECTEDRIDE – Sportiness, performance and safety are the pillars on which the project is based BMW Motorrad. With R 1200 RS Connectedride the German company wanted to do more and provide its customers with an improved vehicle, especially in terms of control. This prototype, in fact, features numerous safety systems designed to avoid accidents. The first is the V2V (Vehicle to Vehicle Communication), an alarm system that interacts with DGNSS (Differential Global Navigation Satellite System), fundamental in situations of lack of precedence.

BMW R 1200 RS Connectedride was previewed at the conference CMC 2017 which was held at the BMW Welt in Munich. The 2017 CMC Conference focused on interventions and exchanges of information with Pedro Barradas of the Directorate General for Mobility and Transport of the European Commission (DG MOVE) and with Dr. Ulrich Veh, Security Director of ACEA (European Automobile Manufacturers Association) , as well as with Antonio Perlot, Secretary General of ACEM (European Association of Motorcycle Manufacturers).

The owner of the house, as well as the new president of the CMC, Karl Viktor Schaller, head of BMW Motorrad development, expressed himself as follows at the end of this important event: “Our goal is to promote the comprehensive use of cooperative safety systems for motorcycles already at an early stage in order to exploit their potential for increasing safety as well as driving pleasure. That's why we invite other companies to join us".
