Futuristic layout but with clear connotative and historical elements that refer to the examples with a two-cylinder boxer engine, although here the power supply is exclusively electric. The unreleased one BMW Motorrad Vision DC Roadster summarizes the prospective intent of the German manufacturer, perceivable from the essential and sporty appearance typical of a naked, combined with a propulsion that offers new and always sparkling sensations.

The new concept

Aesthetics, proportions and nutrition are the key elements of this concept. A future vision indeed, which includes mechanical components such as a visible transmission shaft and a Duolever fork, which enrich this specimen and the summary vision with dark tones. Technique and aesthetics have the same value considering some details typical of Bavarian production, but reworked for the occasion. The same goes when observing the triangular frame, equipped with fluorescent shades that refer to the white lines of the production, or the essential but at the same time futuristic optical groups, which represent a different and prospective interpretation of what has been done up to now by BMW Motorrad. Just look at the dynamic pattern of daylight a LED or the LED lenses of the high and low beam headlights, as well as the two elements that form Cs in the rear area anchored to an aluminum support. An essentiality strengthened by the linearity of the shapes, therefore. On the sidewalls of the exclusive tires developed by Metzeler, there are five fluorescent details, functional both from the point of view of safety in conditions of poor visibility and from an aesthetic point of view.
On this occasion, reference is also made to specific clothing consisting of a two-piece tracksuit with a technical fabric, but apparently normal and wearable. The light and light jacket with colored details and the black trousers reproduce the main colors of the motorbike, featuring sewn and discreet protections, as well as having integrated technologies useful from the point of view of connectivity and safety, based on the information provided. The equipment is completed by an asymmetric backpack attached to the jacket through a series of magnets.

Saddle and cooling solution appear as suspended considering the battery, also evaluating the visual effect linked to the longitudinally milled grooves of the frame, highlighting the longitudinal view of the vehicle, together with the openings in the frame itself made of milled aluminium, as indicated. Carbon fiber was also used to reduce the overall weight of the vehicle and again in an aesthetic sense, within a framework that includes geometric evolutions underlined by red details and brushed aluminum components.

A new electrical impulse

Edgar heinrich, responsible for the design of BMW Motorrad, starts from the heart to summarize this new visionary project which: “shows the BMW Group's ability to maintain the identity and iconicity of BMW Motorrad and at the same time present an exciting new type of riding pleasure”. A dynamism favored by the great electric torque, which accentuates the typical sensations provided by the chassis of a two-wheeled vehicle.
The engine itself represents the basis of the entire structure, evaluating the differences in terms of size and location. There BMW Motorrad Vision DC Roadster seen from the side it appears to present a mass distribution tending towards the front wheel. A sensation favored by the rather low and full-bodied front part, compared to the more tapered, slim and raised rear area. A tubular structure occupies the area traditionally reserved for the fuel tank, supporting the streamlined saddle and configuring a sporty roadster that favors a type of acrobatic driving. The connotative cooling systems, which protrude laterally from the large central battery, reinforce the vision and at each ignition they move partially, suggesting the activation of the vehicle, still taking up the indications on the concept. The engine is therefore relatively small compared to the dimensions of the aforementioned battery, cylindrical in shape and present under the battery. This promotes dialogue with the drive shaft. However, the specialists respected the typical proportions of a model with a boxer unit, making specific modifications according to the different nature of the vehicle. Returning to the battery, this is placed vertically but with a longitudinal orientation, assisted by the aforementioned lateral cooling elements which protrude from appropriate ribs and in favor of the air currents, still taking up a historical concept linked to the boxer engine from BMW R 32, according to the guidelines outlined by Max friz in the distant 1923. The new result of a technological alchemy that connects tradition and progress.
