Record market results for BMW Motorrad in 2021 with 194.261 units (+14,8%). The past year was the best year since the foundation of the brand, considering that in 2020 a figure of 169.272 examples was recorded.

In Italy

In the Italian market the Bavarian brand exceeds the threshold of 16.000 units registered for the first time (16.006 UNRAE source), a new national record and better than the pre-pandemic period with a percentage that grew by 2,7% compared to 2019.
Almost 86% of the total volume is represented by motorcycles over 500 cc to which add the medium-sized C 400 scooters, of which 1.442 registered scooters are indicated, therefore the two models of the G 310 family with 821 registered units, with excellent feedback despite the launch only taking place in the second quarter of 2021.
Moving on to models with a displacement greater than 500 cc, in Italy a growth of 5,9% was recorded compared to 2019, maintaining the leadership with a growth in terms of volumes of 11,6% and improving the market share compared to the two years previous ones (19,4% in 2021; +1,0pp vs 2019; +0,7pp vs 2020).
Speaking of the best-selling specimens, the BMW R 1250 GS it is the best seller among models over 500 cc with 3.956 units, to which add the results of the R 1250 GS Adventure with 2.504 units and the GS flagship family totals 6.460 units.
Then the BMW F 900 XR, in its second year of presence on the market, with 817 units remained stable considering the year of launch, with 825 units in 2020. Then follows the BMW R 1250 RT, a distinctive model in the dynamic tourer segment with 796 units registered. Then the BMW S 1000 XR which follows with 793 units, almost replicating the record that had been 799 units at the 2020 launch.
The models with the Boxer engine were also appreciated, accounting for 59,4% of total sales. In particular, the good debut of the proposal should be noted R18 with 284 units registered.

Featured models

In 2021 Over 60.000 units of the two touring enduros were delivered R 1250 GS e GS Adventure. Sales of the traditionally strong R Series also increased. Turning to UK, even considering Brexit, the exit of this market from the EU did not have a significant impact with a reported increase of 26,6% and sales of 9.263 units in Great Britain/Ireland, compared to the previous year with 7.315 units.
Turning our gaze towards the Asian market, expansion can also be seen in this case. There China with 14.309 units delivered and +21,4% it represents one of the strongest markets on the continent with a double-digit increase. Relevant numbers also in India, with growth of 102,5% and 5.191 units delivered.

United States and Brazil

The trend is also good on the US market in 2021. The delivery of 16.030 motorcycles and scooters is indicated, compared to 12.135 units the previous year with an incredible growth of 32,1%. While in Brazil the trend did not appear as rapid, but it is encouraging. 11.150 units sold were reported compared to the 10.707 units of the previous year with a growth of 4,1%, making it among the top seven markets for the brand in 2021.
