The new communication system ConnectedRide Com U1 di BMW Motorrad, through technology Bluetooth o mesh 2.0, allows you to communicate with the passenger or other members of a group while driving; just as it is possible to listen to music together, make phone calls or follow the navigation system alerts while traveling on two wheels.

A new interaction solution

The design is compact and the system can be mounted on helmets BMW Motorrad StreetX, GS Pure e St. Paul. Sound and functionality are enabled by the HD speakers that can be placed in the helmet.
Use of the ConnectedRide Com U1 This is possible via four buttons or via an alternative app with various settings. Depending on the mode, it is possible to recall the functions with a voice command available in eight languages (including Italian). If the mobile phone is connected to the communication system, digital voice assistants can also be accessed via voice control.

Through the Bluetooth, the range of action of the intercom is up to 2 km in open field. With the Mesh mode the range can be expanded up to 8 km in open terrain, if at least six motorcyclists are connected and traveling at a maximum distance of 1,6 km between each other. In this mode, for optimal range the unit is equipped with an antenna that can be folded.
Two options for communication via Mesh are highlighted:
– Group Mesh Intercom: Private, closed groups for Mesh communication with up to 24 participants.
– Multi-channel Open Mesh intercom: the Open Mesh multi-channel protocol allows switching between nine communication channels. Anyone who is on the same channel can talk to the group - an option that supports an almost unlimited number of users, as long as they are within range. Those who participate can listen
.

By pressing a button, users can switch between Private Group Mesh a Open Mesh without having to reset.
In group communications, six people can talk at the same time. As an alternative to communication via Mesh it is possible to opt for communication via Bluetooth with two participants.
The Universal Intercom feature can also be used to establish a call connection with a person using a headset from another manufacturer. However, there may be limits to the success of the call.
It is not possible to communicate via Mesh with communication systems made by manufacturers other than Sena or BMW Motorrad. It is also not possible to integrate external communication systems into group communication via a Bluetooth bridge, as reported again.

Intelligent audio mixing allows for high comfort in communications. If you speak via Bluetooth intercom and a navigation alert arrives at the same time, the intercom volume is reduced for the duration of the communication.
The system ConnectedRide Com U1 it is also equipped with a FM radio being able to keep a maximum of ten stations in memory. To search for channels you need to press a button or use the free “Com U1” application.

When you activate the headset, an LED flashes to indicate the battery charge status. If the level gets too low during use, an automatic voice warning will sound. Battery life reaches 13 hours with the Bluetooth intercom and reaches up to 8 hours with the Mesh intercom, according to the information.
The quick charging time is one hour and the quick charging function favors operating times of 3,5 hours (Mesh intercom) or 6 hours (Bluetooth intercom) after just 20 minutes of charging, always following the directions.
