Thirty volunteers among employees of BMW Motorrad Italy and members of Federclub supported on September 1st theDifferently Disabled association at the “Tazio Nuvolari” circuit in Cervesina, during the session of driving courses dedicated to motorcyclists with disabilities. On this occasion, three main activities were carried out in parallel.

A day among enthusiasts

As mentioned, three activities were carried out in the session: a motorcycle driving course aimed at motorcyclists with disabilities, on which the association's activity is based; a course regarding Pit Bikes inserted in the most recent years e another approaching the runway for able-bodied motorcyclists.

Through the first course, the Differently Disabled Association (Di.Di.) allows disabled motorcyclists to also obtain the special "AS" license, when their physical situation allows it. A dozen young people participated, divided into three groups and followed by as many instructors.

Moving on to the Pit Bike course, this also offers an experience to those who, due to age or psycho-physical condition, are not able to ride a large motorbike. Therefore, giving space to inclusion in the broadest sense of the term, the basic approach course to the track is aimed at able-bodied motorcyclists who, despite riding a motorbike, have never stepped onto the asphalt of a track, preferring to do so only in a less competitive. A commitment that sees Emiliano Malagoli himself, president and founder of Di.Di, active. as well as an international level Paralympic pilot, who understands these needs considering his in-depth knowledge of the sector.

Among those present also Franco Antonello with his son Andrea, recalling the commitment to autistic children throughsocial enterprise “The Children of the Fairies”, also supported by BMW Italia with SpecialMente. This time an experience as a driver for Andrea in an ideal and safe context, while Franco, thanks to the program, experienced the sensations of driving on the track for the first time.

Supported by BMW Italy through SpecialMente corporate social responsibility project, the Differently Disabled Association, among its various activities, has been offering driving courses for several years for motorcyclists who want to get back together or are interested in driving on two wheels with modified motorbikes and certified instructors. For further information on the activities, you can consult a dedicated portal.
During the courses, characterized by moments of theory and practice, those who participate are grouped in light of their different needs and followed by instructors, who provide knowledge on the use of motorcycles with dedicated specifications and on how to ride safely. Among the instructors there are also teachers with disabilities caused by accidents, an aspect that represents a further strength in the teaching approach, as reported.
