BMW Motorrad and Dainese they announced the collaboration that will lead to the joint development of innovative clothing for the safety of motorcyclists. Starting from the system D-Air® Protect by Dainese, the partners will develop rider equipment with inflatable integrated protectors for BMW Motorrad.

The first product resulting from the collaboration will be the leather suit DoubleR RaceAir with D-Air® racing protectors, designed exclusively for track use. The racing suit will be presented at theEICMA, Hall of Motorcycle which will take place in Milan next November, once BMW Motorrad has completed all the required tests in Munich.

The next phase will be the development of Dainese's D-Air® Street system as an after-sales solution for BMW Motorrad. It is planned to launch this system in 2015, after all crash tests are completed. BMW Motorrad customers will then be able to equip their motorcycles with an innovative safety system.

BMW Motorrad and Dainese are also seeking other forms of cooperation to offer additional protection for motorcyclists.

BMW Motorrad is the only motorcycle manufacturer to have developed a complete range of motorcycling equipment since the 1970s – from helmets to suits, boots and gloves. In doing so, the main priority is given to maximum comfort for the rider as well as reducing the potential consequences of accidents.

In addition to NP protections for motorcycle suits developed by BMW Motorrad, as well as safety-optimized boots and gloves, also the Neck Brace System introduced in 2007 contributes to safety.

BMW Motorrad, pioneer of the ABS system for motorcycles, has always considered motorcycling and safety closely linked and anchored to the principle “Safety 360°”. This articulates the overall concept of motorcycle safety into three aspects: safety technology in the vehicle, safety resulting from the motorcyclist's equipment and safety through rider training.

Having maintained its leading role when it comes to active and passive motorcycle safety for decades, BMW is now expanding its position further thanks to its long-term collaboration with Dainese.
