BMW Motorrad Italy supported the Paralympic athlete and pilot, Emiliano Malagoli, in the evening of 10 July atPalma Arena in Trevignano Romano for the presentation of the documentary film “50.000 steps”, written and directed by Michelangelo Gratton. A tale of New York marathon played by Malagoli in 2019.

The documentary film

“50.000 steps” is Michelangelo Gratton's second feature film, after the 2018 work "I am the colonel", awarded as best film at the MigrArti Film Festival in the same year and winner of the Oscars of Italian Sport and then, in an abridged version, of the VerticalMovie Filmest of Rome also in 2018, considering the sports section.
The director was already involved in the panorama of social responsibility, in 2014, through the disability portal he was responsible for "Ability Channel" which was awarded the first prize as webTV at the Bari Social Film Festival organized by the Ministry of Equal Opportunities. In 2016 he obtained the Italian Paralympic Award assigned by the Italian Paralympic Committee to athletes, teams and technicians who have distinguished themselves, as well as personalities from institutions, media, artists and film producers, who have highlighted the Paralympic movement by underlining its cultural value of social inclusion.

Emiliano faced a new challenge with himself, after losing his right leg in 2011 due to a car accident. He returned to a racing motorbike, the BMW S 1000 RR with which he competes in the category championships and after the foundation of the Di.Di. association. Differently Disabili through which he gets kids with physical disabilities who believed they could no longer live their passion back on the saddle, in 2019 he wanted to tackle the famous New York marathon by completing the 42,195 km expected. Marathon which for Emiliano Malagoli represents a metaphor for life. On June 18th also the publication of the autobiographical book "Continue to run".
“50.000 steps” is a story of disability “without conditioning, patterns and prejudices” indicated the director, talking about the story of Emiliano and his adventure companion, Annalisa Minetti, bringing out feelings and emotions. Leading to reflection on the great opportunities linked to situations.
Salvatore Nicola Nanni, General Manager di BMW Motorrad Italy, underlined the support for Emiliano on this occasion, also through the contribution of the Holden School, highlighting the issue of social responsibility. Understanding and improving also thanks to the narration of events such as that of Emiliano, a man who: “He puts energy, strength and passion into the undertakings he carries out and the activities he follows. In the same way, with passion and a sense of responsibility, we at BMW Italia face our social responsibility program which we have called SpecialMente" he added on the occasion.

The SpecialMente project

BMW Italy, Italian branch of BMW AG, has created an integrated Corporate Social Responsibility program focused on culture, social inclusion, intercultural dialogue, road safety. Especially represents a platform that includes various activities, underlining the theme inherent in the corporate culture of BMW Italia. From 2001 to today, the SpecialMente project has involved 1.000.000 people through initiatives “online” e “on land”, as reported.
