The preview of a third two-wheeled M model

The specimen BMW M 1000 XR prototype, shown in the centenary year of BMW Motorrad, anticipates a new, markedly sporty interpretation of the Touring segment, combining versatility and high performance.

The prelude to another novelty

BMW Motorrad will offer further information on the new one BMW M1000 XR of second half of the year.
Among the aspects mentioned, in addition to the suspension technology and the technological aspects, the M winglets stand out on the hull, functional to stability, also considering a significant increase in power. Elements that promote grip on the road surface, particularly at high speeds and during acceleration. The additional load on the front wheel counteracts the tendency to wheelie during acceleration, which represents a benefit in terms of performance. There is also a seating position specifically oriented towards the front wheel, supporting control.
Among the interesting aspects also the M braking solutions with radial brake master cylinder for optimal braking performance. As in the case of M 1000RR e M 1000 R, even on the new one M1000XR an M braking impact is expected, defined thanks to the experience acquired with the systems used on racing motorbikes in the Superbike World Championship. The M brake calipers feature a blue anodized coating with the familiar M logo.

The M 1000 Chassis technology, combined with sophisticated aerodynamics and electronic control aspects, are all aspects that optimize and maximize performance in road use.
The engine is a four-cylinder in-line unit BMW ShiftCam technology and a low weight. The basis is the four-cylinder engine of the BMW S 1000 RR with BMW ShiftCam technology focused on timing variation. On this occasion, a power of 200 horses (over 147 kW), compared to a DIN empty weight of 223 kg.
With the adoption of a M Competition package, offered as an option ex works, based on what has been mentioned, further weight reduction and greater driving dynamics are expected. The BMW M 1000 XR prototype can reach a top speed of around 280 km/h, as reported.
