BMW M 1000 RR: the various aspects of a performance project [VIDEO]

Functional aesthetics

Aerodynamics, construction technique and specificity, considering the frame and geometries all functional factors in terms of performance, together with optimized load distribution.
Highlights of M fins associated with the set-up and developed in carbon with a transparent coating based on aerodynamic downforce and loads linked to the speed of the vehicle. On the front wheel the increased load counteracts the wheelie effect, as indicated, favoring a smaller adjustment of the traction control. A functional aspect for stability when braking and when cornering.
The color scheme is equally distinctive, with a bright white /M Sport base combined with light blue, dark blue and red colours, also mentioning the granite gray engine covers and the dark colored fuel filler cap.
It features a frame based on the aluminum one of the S 1000 RR, considering an aluminum bridge structure in the center. There is an upside down fork and a revised monoshock with blue spring and progressive Full Floater Pro kinematics. A scheme designed to maximize performance, keeping in mind the focus on anti-squat control, braking and handling.
For the first time on a BMW two-wheeled example they are notable M brakes, developed thanks to the knowledge acquired on the track with racing systems. On the outside, the calipers are equipped with a blue anodized coating in combination with the M logo, so the wheels appear to be made of M carbon.

Power and technology

The inline four-cylinder engine that powers the S 1000 RR is redefined to convey a more decisive character based on a higher rpm and a curb weight of 192 kg, taking up the information. The power reaches 212 horses (156 kW) at 14.500 rpm and torque 113 Nm at 11.000 rpm. The maximum rotation speed can reach 15.100 rpm with an exhaust system made of titanium.
The “Rain”, “Road”, “Dynamic”, “Race” and “Race Pro1-3” driving modes are listed, also evaluating an updated Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) and a DTC Wheelie function with six-axis sensor box .
The 6,5-inch TFT instrumentation has the same basic setting as the S 1000 RR model with a start-up animation marked M. Among the optional accessories mentioned is an activation code including the M Competition package for the provision of a data package in the use of the M GPS laptrigger and M GPS data logger accessories through the OBD interface.
Along with a standard trim, the M Competition package includes elements related to aesthetics and innovative solutions. In addition to an M GPS laptrigger software and the corresponding activation code, an M carbon package, a 220 gram lighter silver swingarm, a passenger package with tail cover and an M Endurance chain, a set of milled parts are indicated M, taking up the directions again.
