BMW M 1000 R it is another innovation signed by M for 2023. A powerful motorbike characterized by refined technological solutions.

A sporting vision

The basic model features a color livery light white non-metallic / M Motorsport, a combination is also proposed Blackstorm metallic / M Motorsport included in M Competition package, which underlines its gritty vision. The M Competition package is a result of stylistic and technological research and, together with the Blackstorm metallic / M Motorsport livery, the package includes various elements that intensify the qualities of the bike with M Carbon rims equipped with newly set tapes. Instead, lightweight forged aluminum rims are used as standard.
The M Design language anticipates the character expressed by the new BMW M 1000 R. The connection between aesthetics and technology is visible by noticing details such as the shape of the front light cluster and the new M winglets on the sides, which support performance and stability thanks to an increase of the load on the front wheel of 11 kg at 220 km/h, considering the downforce. According to the information, the aerodynamic drag, taking into account the small additional frontal area and the shape of the M winglets, is compensated with a deflector placed in front of the instrument panel, in the M Competition package.

The bike features a 6,5-inch TFT instrument cluster with an M start-up animation and a new extended speed range display in red. Among the options we highlight material for the use of the M GPS Laptrigger and the M GPS Datalogger (Original BMW Motorrad Accessories), offered through an activation code via the OBD interface.
The aluminum frame is a central element and, in the front area, there is an upside down fork with a diameter of 45 mm in "All black" design with closed cartridge inserts and separate piston-cylinder hydraulic systems. Also highlighted is the possible adjustment of the fork spring preload in combination with the Dynamic Damping Control (DDC).

The fork features a top plate with a milled handlebar stem and a black aluminum tubular handlebar with a wider design than that seen on the S 1000 R. A “BMW M 1000 R” wording is laser engraved. The handlebar mirrors are forged in aluminum and the steering damper can be managed with an intervention also on the fork legs designed to accommodate the new M brake calipers. This is the second model equipped with this type of braking system. The M brake calipers feature an M logo and a blue anodized coating. Together with the two 320 mm brake discs and the black anodized aluminum disc holders, the system includes a new radial master cylinder for the front brake, a top product in the development of systems approved for road use. There is also a new Brake Slide Assist function for track driving enthusiasts.

Propulsive heart

The in-line four-cylinder drive unit is modified and liquid-cooled and is based on the engine of the S 1000 RR. The power reaches i 210 horses (154 kW) at 13.750 rpm, a value increased by 45 horsepower (33 kW) compared to the S 1000 R. The torque reaches the figure of 113 Nm at 11.000 rpm. Another interesting fact is the weight, considering an empty DIN value of 199 kg with a full load.
Traction is supported by a secondary gear ratio, more limited through the use of a 47-tooth crown, compared to the 45 teeth of the S 1000 R example with shorter gear ratios of the fourth, fifth and sixth gears.
