In the video proposed by BMW Motorrad, on YouTube, the new ones are the protagonists among the nocturnal atmospheres of a metropolis BMW M 1000 R e BMW M2.

The new naked

The video states that the scenes were carried out by professionals and filmed on roads closed to traffic. You shouldn't imitate them.
Looking at the images, you can see the grit of the new one M 1000 R already anticipated by the language M Design. The symbiosis between aesthetics and technology can also be found in the details of the bike, such as the design of the front light cluster or the new M winglets. The aerodynamics are as functional as the technological aspects that affect the chassis and the propulsive heart. As mentioned, the new M 1000 R is equipped with winglets linked to the front sides which support performance and stability, considering an increase in the load on the front wheel of 11 kg at 220 km/h, based on the downforce. The aerodynamic drag, linked to the small additional frontal area and the shape of the M winglets, is compensated with a deflector placed in front of the instrument panel, keeping in mind the package M-Competition.
The shades associated with the motorcycle are a combination light white non-metallic / M Motorsport for the basic model and one color Blackstorm metallic / M Motorsport included in the M Competition package, which enhances the dynamic qualities and sporting nature of this example. The mink is also made interesting by the minimalist terminal part which extends upwards.
The M Competition package represents a fine result of stylistic and technological research. Along with the aforementioned Blackstorm metallic / M Motorsport livery, the M Competition package includes several elements that intensify the qualities of the model and M Carbon wheels.
The on-screen instrumentation TFT da 6,5 inches includes an M start-up animation and a new extended speed range display in red. Among the options we highlight the material for the use of the M GPS Laptrigger and the M GPS Datalogger (Original BMW Motorrad Accessories), offered via an activation code via the OBD interface.

Technical aspects

The propulsive heart is a four cylinders in line modified e liquid cooled, which is based on the engine of the S 1000 RR. The power reaches a figure of 210 horses (154 kW) at 13.750 rpm, a value increased by 45 horsepower (33 kW) compared to the S 1000 R example. The torque reaches peak 113 Nm at 11.000 rpm. Another interesting aspect is the weight, given an empty DIN value of 199 kg fully loaded, according to information.
The traction of the rear wheel is supported by a secondary gear ratio, more limited through the use of a 47-tooth sprocket, compared to the 45 teeth of the S 1000 R. The gear ratios of the fourth, fifth and sixth gears are shorter , as reported.
The aluminum frame appears as the central element and in the front area there is an upside down fork with a diameter of 45 mm in "All black" design and the closed cartridge inserts with separate hydraulic piston-cylinder systems are highlighted. Also indicated is the possibility of adjusting the fork spring preload in combination with the Dynamic Damping Control (DDC).

The fork is equipped with an upper plate with a milled handlebar stem and there is a black aluminum tubular handlebar with a more extended design, compared to that seen with the S 1000 R, on which the writing “ stands out, laser engraved BMW M 1000 R”. There are also forged aluminum handlebar mirrors, as well as a steering damper that can also be managed with an intervention on the fork legs designed to accommodate the new M brake calipers. This is the second model equipped with this type of braking system. The M brake calipers are distinguished by a blue anodized coating, as well as the M logo.
In addition to the two 320 mm brake discs and the black anodized aluminum disc holders, the system includes a new radial master cylinder for the front brake which represents the current pinnacle in brake development, when it comes to systems approved for road circulation. There is also a new Brake Slide Assist function, a solution for those who appreciate driving on the track. According to information, it allows the motorcyclist to brake by brushing into corners with a constant slide.
The bike features lightweight forged aluminum rims as standard but, as mentioned, together with the M Competition package there are exclusive M Carbon rims with newly designed tapes.
