BMW G310GS – The Elica company debuts the new G310GS at the Milan Motor Show: the “Giessina” for newly licensed drivers or for customers looking for something less demanding than its bigger sisters, without however giving up the reliability and robustness typical of the company's motorbikes. German house. The new arrival is in fact not a "toy" at all, but a motorcycle of quality and substance. Produced in Bangalore (India), at the headquarters of the partner TVS Motor Company, as for the G310R, the organization of production, design and materials used are the same as those from the Spandau factory. In fact, each engine is placed on a test bench where all the most important parameters are measured, various checks are carried out on the electronics and, finally, on a brand new roller system, the dynamics of the final product is tested. All this makes the new GS a motorcycle of unquestionable quality. In detail, there is no shortage of classic elements, typical of the bigger sisters, such as: high front mudguard, compact tail, 19" front wheel and greater suspension travel, to guarantee the rider a very upright and comfortable driving position. This motorbike is produced to be able to circulate on all the roads of the world, therefore it is able to travel with different qualities of unleaded petrol.

This results in a compression ratio limited to 10.6:1, with an engine power of 34 horsepower at a speed of 9.500 rpm, with a maximum torque of 28 Nm at 7.6000 rpm. Very respectable data for this single-cylinder of "only" 313 cc, already seen on the "R", liquid-cooled with a large radiator for a motorbike with excellent thermal stability. The cylinder was inclined towards the rear and coupled to a head rotated by 180°, therefore with the intake on the front side, for a direct supply of the fresh air-fuel mixture, but not only. Thanks also to the drive shafts positioned consecutively, the small GS has a center of gravity moved towards the front wheel which, together with an advantageous short wheelbase, have allowed the fitting of a longer swinging arm. Result: stability, agility, perfect handlebar/front wheel communication and exceptional control of the vehicle by the rider. This unusual position of the engine allows the use of a large airbox and a fuel tank (11 litres), with a completely new design, which guarantees less displacement of the liquid, and therefore of weight, in the event of uncontrolled movements. The oil lubrication system using an immersion pump is more consolidated. Inside the latter we find a labyrinth of trays which avoids any lack of lubrication in the most extreme passages with inclined motion. To maximize comfort in motion, a rotating counterbalance shaft has been added in front of the crankshaft, to almost completely eliminate engine vibrations. The exhaust system has been redesigned, compared to the G310R, to guarantee greater travel of the rear shock absorber. On the front end we find a 41 mm upside-down fork (180 mm of travel), made of light but very rigid alloy and a 19-inch wheel (110/80R19), for fun even on unpaved surfaces. The rear, as already mentioned, is characterized by a long swinging arm, which is combined with a monoshock, with a travel of 180 mm and a 17-inch wheel (150/70R17). The driver's seat is placed at a height of 835 mm.

The braking system of the small "Giessina" is composed of a single disc (300 mm) with radial connection and 4-piston caliper at the front and a disc (240 mm) with 2-piston caliper at the rear. Aeronautical tubes were used throughout the system. There is also ABS which, from the controls on the handlebars, can be easily deactivated at the rear for "off-road" riding. It will be produced by BMW in 3 different colours: Cosmic Black (black plastics with light titanium details), Racing Red (red and black plastics with light details) and Pearl White (white, red and blue plastics). Many accessories available: low seat, high seat, luggage support, 29 liter "basic" topcase, 30 liter topcase, central stand, LED direction indicators, 12 volt socket, heated grips, internal lining for the topcase, tank bag, adjustable brake and clutch levers, holder for the BMW navigation system, BMW navigator and BMW smartphone holder. Now all that's left to do is insert the key, see the beautiful digital instrumentation light up and try out this G310GS on any type of route.
