BMW EC 04 it is a recognizable electric scooter with futuristic and sculpted shapes. In two films proposed by BMW Motorrad on YouTube, guidance is provided on charging procedures at home and in a public place.

Information on charging the vehicle

In the video dedicated to charging at home, it is possible to use a BMW Wallbox with greater charging performance and shorter times or use a BMW standard charging cable to be connected to a domestic socket, as explained on this occasion.

A series of LED they signal the charging status and their meaning is visible on the back of the charging module. Before proceeding, we also recommend having the system checked by an electrician. The charging cable must be connected directly to the domestic socket, the use of an extension is not permitted, as highlighted again in the video. The illumination of a green Power LED suggests that the system is ready and you can connect the socket to the vehicle.

To proceed with charging it is necessary to turn off the electric scooter. Any problems reported on the vehicle display may require a new attempt, reconnecting the charging cable or using another socket, always after verification by a technician. The charging status, available autonomy and charging time are visible by consulting the ControlDisplay of the scooter, using the rocker switch indicating Menu. The process ends automatically once a full charge is reached. To unlock the cable it is necessary to turn on the electric scooter again, then it can be disconnected from the vehicle and then from the socket. Another video proposed by BMW Motorrad on Youtube also describes the procedure at a public charging point.

The BMW CE 04 electric scooter

The vehicle features all-round LED headlights with a front projector for high beam and one for low beam. The rear light and directional indicators are also always LED and, as an ex works option, there is also a Headlight Pro adaptive cornering light system.
The instrument panel consists of a color screen TFT da 10,25 inches with integrated map navigation and connectivity solutions. The electronic overview also provides three driving modes, opting between “ECO”, “Rain” and “Road”, with an optional “Dynamic” to intensify the driving sensations, then a slip control through the ASC (Automatic Stability Control). A DTC (Dynamic Traction Control) is optional.

The frame consists of a tubular steel structure, which is combined with a telescopic fork with a diameter of 35 mm and a single-sided rear swing arm. At the rear there is also a covered, directly controlled spring-structured axle. The braking system consists of a double disc brake at the front and a further single disc at the rear. Also highlighted is a latest generation ABS Pro system, offered as an optional, acting via a banking sensor to control braking even when cornering.

The permanent magnet electric motor is liquid-cooled, located in the frame between the battery and the rear wheel. The nominal power amounts to 15 kW (20 horsepower) and the maximum reaches i 31 kW (42 horsepower). For the low power class L3e-A1 a power of is proposed 11 kW (15 horsepower) or 23 kW (31 horses).
The lithium ion battery is from 60,6 Ah (8,9 kWh) and, according to the indications, the autonomy is approximately 130 kilometers. In the case of a reduced power version the figure is 100 km.
