The new electric scooter BMW EC 04 represents a new perspective of dynamism in urban areas and beyond. In the film proposed by BMW Motorrad on YouTube, the focus is on design.

Distinctive and sculpted lines

Alexander Buckan, Head of Vehicle Design BMW Motorrad, spoke on the occasion. The style is defined by taut and profiled lines. A technological concept that includes optical group a LED and a large screen TFT intended for instrumentation from 10,25 inches, then a finish in Light white which are associated with opaque black sections in the front and lateral areas, as well as a distinctive "floating" saddle.

Technology

The scooter is equipped with a frame made of a tubular steel structure. Present in front a telescopic fork with a diameter of 35 mm, while behind there is a swinging arm on one side only. The rear suspension part consists of a directly controlled and covered spring structure axle. The braking system includes a double disc brake at the front and an additional single disc at the rear. Also noteworthy is the latest generation ABS Pro system, available as an option, acting via a banking sensor to control braking even when cornering.
The front tire is 120/70 R15 67H and the rear is 160/60 R15 56H. The vehicle is equipped with a liquid-cooled permanent magnet electric motor, located in the frame between the battery and the rear wheel. The nominal power is: 15 kW (20 horsepower) and the maximum reaches 31 kW (42 horsepower) and to sprint from 0 to 50 km/h, it takes 2,6 seconds. For the low power class L3e-A1 a power of is proposed 11 kW (15 horsepower) or 23 kW (31 horsepower). In any case, the maximum speed amounts to 120 km/h, making it possible to go even outside the city.
The battery is lithium ion 60,6 Ah (8,9 kWh) and according to the indications the autonomy is approximately 130 kilometers. In the case of a reduced power version the figure amounts to 100 km, as reported.
