BMW lifts the veil from the new F 800 GS, F 900 GS and F 900 GS Adventure [PHOTO]

A trio of new features, made up of the new ones F 800 GS, F 900 GS e F 900 GS Adventure, is the one revealed by BMW Motorrad. With MY 2024 the three mid-range touring motorcycles from the Elica company renew the "GS experience" with a series of updates starting with the one concerning the advanced parallel twin engine, shared with the three new BMW motorcycles as well as the steel bridge frame.

What is new in common between the three new BMW Motorrad models is the electronic refinement, which provides the new 6,5 inch TFT display which integrates the Connect Ride Navigator of BMW. Although they are shared elements, each of the three motorcycles has specific peculiarities that determine its character and limit its ideal perimeter of use.

895 cc twin-cylinder engine for all three

All three of BMW's new medium GSs feature the 895 cc two-cylinder in-line engine (compared to the previous 853 cc) which increases traction, torque and responsiveness in acceleration. The engine develops 105 CV and 95 Nm for the two 900s, while on the 800 it reaches 87 CV and 91 Nm. The F 800 GS is also available in a detuned version 47 CV drivable with A2 licence. The three bikes are equipped as standard with ABS Pro, dynamic traction control, Rain and Road riding modes, with the possibility of choosing the optional Pro riding modes and Dynamic Brake Control on request.

Starting from the new BMW F 900 GS, this one enhances the off-road spirit by proposing itself lightened by 14 kg compared to the previous model, with the weight standing at 219 kg in running order. The slightly smaller tank, now 14,5 litres, made of plastic, the redesigned rear with a lighter swingarm and the new Akrapovic exhaust terminal have contributed to the slimming diet. On the ergonomics front, the new F 900 GS has lower footrests and wider handlebars to make standing riding easier. Further innovations concern the new adjustable Showa upside-down fork and a new gear lever, also adjustable and shared with the other two new models.

The BMW F 900 GS MY 2024 has a sportier design, as well as new LED headlights, a short beak and a 12 mm multifunctional support for mounting action cameras or other standard devices. Available at launch in three colours, the new F 900 GS has a rich list of options from which to draw, such as the Enduro Pro package, the keyless system and the intelligent emergency call function.

The new one offers a step in terms of off-road vocation BMW F 900 ​​GS Adventure, designed for the longest and most demanding journeys. Compared to the standard version, the Adventure stands out for its larger tank (23 litres), the aluminum protection for the engine and the touring windscreen with adjustable inclination. Elements that increase the weight of the motorbike to 246 kg. The Dynamic Esa electronic suspensions are available as an option, while on an aesthetic level the range offers two colours: metallic Blackstorm and matt White Aluminium.

The new BMW F 800 GS

The new BMW F 800 GS, the entry level version, is the one most oriented towards road use. Weighing 227 kg, the F 800 GS 2024 takes advantage of a good part of the innovations of its bigger 900 sisters, bringing to the road, albeit with the push of a less powerful engine, the peculiarities seen on the other two models just unveiled by BMW. The new F 800 GS is equipped with a 6,4-inch TFT screen, LED headlights, 19-inch alloy wheels at the front and 17-inch at the rear. Three color options are expected to debut in dealerships, with the possibility of opting on request for the Enduro Pro package and the Dynamic Esa electronic suspension.
