Bicycles, ANCMA: a growing sector in the European area

Interesting results inbicycle industry in Europe. Important data, given that the continental market has recorded an all-time high in the last twenty years, as emerges from the 2021 report by CONEBI (European Confederation of the Bicycle, E-Bike, Components and Accessories Industry) on the cycle industry and the market in Europe spread in Italy by Confindustria ANCMA (National Association of Cycle Motorcycle Accessories).

If you consider that in Italy in 2020 we witnessed an annual record with over 2 million pieces sold (+17% on 2019), as mentioned in the textile market EU area has been reached historical maximum considering the last twenty years.
Over 22 million pieces were sold in the European Union and the United Kingdom last year, taking into account traditional bicycles and e-bikes, for a total market value of 18,3 billion euros and a growth of +40 % compared to the previous year.
Several new national policies targeting cycling infrastructure, in light of changes in consumer behaviour, as highlighted in the press release, have been important factors: 3,6 of the 4,5 million e-bikes sold in the EU and UK have been produced in Europe, at a percentage level we are talking about 80%.
There is a growing number of companies that are strengthening their investments and deciding to bring or bring production back to the continent, highlighting that for every 1.000 bikes produced each year in Europe, three to five jobs are generated. For every 1.000 e-bikes, there are six to nine jobs, as indicated.
The results linked to the sector of bicycles, e-bikes and the associated components and accessories themselves have boosted employment in the continental context, given a solid 30% increase in employment in 2020 compared to the previous year.
