At the hearing House Transportation Committee, regarding the effects linked to the recent health emergency on the transport sector, the Minister of Infrastructure and Transportation, Paola De Micheli, reported that it is under study “the recognition of an alternative mobility voucher” addressed to areas with over 50 thousand inhabitants e metropolitan city, up to a maximum of 500 euros for the purchase of bicycles e scooters, also to predominantly electric propulsion.

The incentive studied

A provision under study with the Minister ofEnvironment, Sergio Costa, as indicated again by Minister De Micheli, which could represent an incentive to choose a type of alternative mobility, also assisted electrically, and therefore more compatible with a sustainable lifestyle as well as functional in city traffic.
In a recent interview with Republic, the minister mentioned the proposal for incentives for the purchase of vehicles such as bicycles and scooters, including electric ones, therefore sharing where present, in the so-called “May decree”. A possible incentive of up to a maximum of 500 euros, while for municipalities there could be contributions and rules for the development of temporary cycle paths.
Speaking of Phase 2, regarding the gradual opening underway, a maximum of 10% of 'returning workers' was expected, almost 300 thousand people throughout Italy potential users of public transport, ensuring that this did not occur “no transport chaos”. The increase percentages are also low on regional and long-distance trains, as well as on urban public transport, in view of the so-called Phase 2.1 from May 18th, with the reopening of other commercial establishments. There could be possible corrective measures or further measures to guarantee safety, such as a "verticalisation" of the seats on the various vehicles, as emerged.
Returning to the provision, based on the news that has emerged, further developments are in the pipeline. Minister De Micheli underlined that the bonus would be “erga omnes”, i.e. not linked to income.
