Benelli TRK 502 X: the adventure version, easy and for everyone! [ROAD TEST VIDEO]

A fashionable and captivating look, the Leoncino engine and a price of less than 6 thousand euros

Benelli TRK 502 X 2018 Touring design, but with an off road character. It is capable of entertaining even the most savvy, guaranteeing, among other things, approximately 500 km of autonomy

One year after the debut of the standard version of the TRK 502, Benelli is expanding the range with the "X" version, a new medium-displacement traveler in the adventure version. We told you about it in detail in a first "hot" article (you can read it here), now here's our story on video.

It obviously inherits the engine from the standard, 2-cylinder in-line facing forward, with liquid cooling. It is the same one also used by the Leoncino, which delivers a maximum power of 47,6 HP at 8.500 rpm, i.e. 35 kW, exactly the limit for new drivers, with a maximum torque of 46 Nm.

What distinguishes the "X" version of the TRK 502 are the many details designed for the ABC of off road, with different suspension settings, 19" front rim, more ground clearance and a higher seat. It has a very personal look, with a strong front and the appearance of a solid motorbike, with muscular lines, a voluminous front, built around the generous 20-litre tank, which guarantees, among other things, around 500 km of autonomy. For off-road riding, hand guards are fitted as standard, while the high fairing guarantees maximum air protection.

There is also a USB socket located on the left side of the driver, the instrument panel is simple, but quite complete. The wide handlebar is adjustable in distance from the saddle. The Benelli TRK 502 X engine is embraced by a tubular trellis frame with steel plates. The suspension setting is different than the standard version, designed for off road use. At the front we find an upside-down fork with 50 mm stanchions, while at the rear a central shock absorber, hydraulically adjustable, both in extension and in compression and spring preload.

The saddle moves to 850 mm from the ground (+50), while the ground clearance here measures 220 mm, 30 more. The Benelli TRK 502 The weight is well placed, but becomes substantial, with 19 kg in running order. The front braking system is made up of a double 235 mm disc and 320-piston floating calipers, but without the radial attachments found on the standard TRK 2. Once you get on the bike, despite the weight, the bike highlights great maneuverability. The driving position is excellent, the rest of the feet on the ground guarantees safety and stability, even when maneuvering from a standstill. Well balanced, it has a notable steering angle. The fork works to perfection: while guaranteeing excellent comfort, in no case does the front appear to widen, nor does the set-up seem to change in any way. A motorbike that ensures immediate confidence in riding even for the less experienced, giving a sensation of lightness and agility that instils confidence, as if you have known the motorbike for some time.

The TRK 502
The engine offers a decidedly pleasant sound, while the accelerator response is very soft and sweet. A generous heart capable of entertaining, as well as forgiving almost everything. It can almost be defined as an engine with a dual personality, round, but with a lively delivery between 3.000 and 6.000 rpm. It manages to provide a very smooth progression, starting from 3.000 rpm, and the throttle can be opened decisively without hesitation, without having to throttle to avoid the on-off effect, which is almost absent. The 6-speed gearbox shifts smoothly and is smooth and smooth even when downshifting. The front braking system is promoted, but only with satisfactory results. It is also effective, but it is not particularly incisive. As for the rear, the possibility of deactivating the ABS for off-road riding is appreciated, where the most savvy can enjoy some nice traverses. Without danger, skidding easily even on entry, using the brake to set the curve and playing with the accelerator on exit, thanks to the rounded delivery of the twin-cylinder.

In conclusion, in our opinion, the new arrival from Benelli is a "total" touring motorbike, which loves to cover kilometers in any condition, but which is offered at a price never seen before (or almost). We are talking about only 5.9990 Euros, something that essentially puts it on the top step of the podium in terms of quality/price, or even better, equipment/price. Finding such a complete crossover is not at all easy. It is offered in three colors: white, black, red. Among the options we obviously find the side bag kit, branded GIVI and a higher and more protective fairing, also from the Brescia company.
