Through a statement, Honda reported the signing of a letter of intent with KTM AG, Piaggio & C. Spa e Yamaha Motor Co. Ltd. to achieve a interchangeable battery consortium about motorcycles e light vehicles electrical type.

Information

The aim of the consortium will be to define the standardized technical aspects of the interchangeable battery system for "category L" specimens, i.e. mopeds, motorcycles, tricycles, and quadricycles. The members who created the consortium will be involved in the creation of international technical standards, working in contact with all interested companies and national, European and international standardization bodies. The aforementioned consortium will begin operating in May. The founding members invite all interested parties to join the cooperation to enhance the qualities of this project.
Considering theagreement in Paris concerning the climate and the transition to one electric mobility, from what emerged, the fact that a standardized system of interchangeable batteries is available on the one hand would promote a wider use of light electric vehicles and on the other hand would contribute to the management of a more sustainable battery life cycle.
Furthermore, by increasing autonomy, reducing charging times and with lower vehicle and infrastructure costs, the various construction companies will try to provide an answer to some important questions regarding electric mobility itself.
