From one point of the world to another, from northern Europe to southern Africa and back, walking approximately 50.000 km in less than 6 months. The traveling experience of Fabrizio Buscaglia, riding his Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin Adventure Sports, is summarized by the same motorbike traveler known online as “Fabryrock” and who will meet his followers on Saturday 25 March 2023 at the Honda Moto Macchion dealership in Legnano (MI).

An evocative journey around the world

Passionate about travel and motorbikes, Fabrizio Buscaglia retraces the adventure upon returning to Italy after his “wide ride”, as he defined it. A journey full of fascinating perspectives and also enlivened by some difficulties, but nevertheless completed until returning to Italy on Thursday 23 March. A return that will be celebrated with a party and a meeting with his followers who have followed him over the months and sent him their messages of encouragement. On this occasion, the motorbike traveler also thanks Honda Motor Europe Ltd Italia which supported him, always guaranteeing him the best assistance at every latitude.

In summarizing his adventure he immediately remembered that he had bought the company in 2022 Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin Adventure Sports with which he faced the challenge: to travel the entire distance by land towards the North Cape and then towards Cape Town in South Africa, going further as far as Cape Agulhas, in the extreme south of the African continent.
After the first 1.000 km service, the motorbike traveler set off for the North Cape last spring using a completely standard motorbike, without any modifications. He reached the point north, beyond the Arctic Circle, the Nordkapp fjord was still completely white. He arrived at the North Cape monument surrounded by nocturnal silence.

It was only the first part of the project “From Nordkapp to Cape Town”, because once he reached the northern point of Europe he set off again to return home and prepare the bike again to face the next challenge: reaching the southernmost point of Africa.
The new departure took place at the end of October, traveling first to France and Spain and then arriving on the African continent. An immense theater for a new physical and mental challenge, riding a motorbike put to the test in different conditions between sand, mud, stones and asphalt. Air shipments and naval connections along the route have been avoided, except at points not connected by bridges or where required.
Once he arrived in Tangier from Tarifa, Buscaglia crossed the Tropic of Cancer along the Sahara traveling between Morocco, Mauritania, Senegal, Guinea Conakry and along challenging land routes. In the Ivory Coast he traveled another 300 km through mud and rather difficult puddles of water.

Between Nigeria and Cameroon the border was crossed only to the north, in a "red zone", recalling the risk of attacks linked to the terrorist group Boko Haram. After passing the mountains, along the Faro park, the journey continued through the Congo without experiencing any problems or lack of petrol, taking advantage of two extra jerry cans and thanks to the tank capacity of almost 25 litres. In sixth gear it was able to cover 600 km.
A curious episode occurred precisely in Congo, the encounter with a large gorilla who, however, ran away as soon as he saw him.

Having subsequently arrived in Angola and Namibia, beyond the Tropic of Capricorn to South Africa, he parked his motorbike in front of the Cape of Good Hope sign and finally reached Cape Aghullas, even further south, at the meeting point of the Atlantic Ocean and Indian Ocean.

In Johannesburg, through the professionalism of the Honda assistance network, he left the motorbike for a thorough service before resuming the journey back to Italy, again by land.
The ascent began along the road that connects to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, often encountering elephants and giraffes. Given the opportunity there was also time for a short tour of the island of Zanzibar.
Having subsequently landed in Kenya, the motorbike traveler reached the Equator and then the Nile valleys in Ethiopia, to observe the source of the Blue Nile on Lake Tana. Instead in Khartoum, Sudan, he witnessed the meeting between the Blue Nile and the White Nile, until reaching the pyramids of Meroe, in the desert.

Before returning to Europe, the motorbike traveler crossed the Red Sea by ferry, from Port Sudan to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, for another quick service after another 12.000 km. After leaving, he arrived in Jordan for a visit to the suggestive Petra and then subsequently went to the Honda dealership in Amman for a further check. A last stop before arriving in Turkey and Europe, towards Italy and the finish line of this interesting adventure.
