Automoto Collection – In the context of the Automoto Collection, which will take place in Novegro on 22 and 23 April, in the thematic exhibition “The Milanese motorbikes in Novegro” motorcycles that came into the world from Milan will be exhibited, including the Parilla born in via Oglio, the Lambretta in via Pitteri in Lambrate, Isomoto, Sertum born in viale Certosa, Gilera born in Corso 22 Marzo, Garelli of Sesto San Giovanni, Guazzoni born in via Altaguardia in Porta Romana, Bianchi had a large factory in viale Abruzzi, Motom born in via Palma, MDS, Pegaso, Mas born in via Correggio, Vaga, Miller, Stucchi and many others.

The Italian motorcycling history rich in brands, models and victories would not have been the same if it hadn't been for Milanese production with an endless number of motorcycle brands that made it great and known. The motorcycles we present in Novegro are the result of careful historical research.

In the list there are large manufacturers, such as Bianchi, Frera, Gilera, Parilla, Lambretta, Motom, but also small artisans such as Taurus, Guazzoni, MAS who have sometimes created a single example of a motorcycle but should not be forgotten for this reason, because these companies with their work have contributed to making Lombard and Italian motorcycling great.

The end of the nineteenth century was characterized by a great motoring fervor with the creation of two and three-wheeled vehicles, mainly handcrafted, full of original and sometimes bizarre solutions. It is difficult to say which was the first motorcycle built and where, almost every European nation claims its paternity, certainly the first attempt to mass-build a motorcycle was made by the Germans Hildebrand and Wolfmüller in 1894, the vehicle was imported into Italy by Max Türkheimer of Milan and was marketed under the name Motorrad, i.e. motorcycle. The first completely Italian motorcycle was probably created by Figini & Lazzati who had a workshop in Via della Moscova in Milan and created an interesting motor bicycle called the bicicletto.

While the most interesting achievements of motorcycle pioneering were born in France. The cradle of Italian motorcycling is Lombardy and Piedmont. Lombardy with the brands mentioned to which must be added other important builders such as the brothers Paolo and Leone Marchand in partnership with Attilio Orio who started the business in 1899 in Musocco, a suburb of Milan, and then moved to Piacenza. The Milanese watchmaker Enrico Pecori moved to Caslino d'Erba and created a steam tricycle in 1891 which is now exhibited at the Biscaretti museum in Ruffia.

The spread of motorcycles in this period is proven by the need for regulation which came, in 1901, with the decree of the Ministry of Works which established that motorized bicycles (motorcycles) were considered in the same way as cars and followed the same regulations. At the beginning of the First World War, around twenty thousand motorcycles were circulating in Italy.

We remind you that AUTOMOTO COLLECTION is a market exhibition held at the Novegro Exhibition Park, strongly characterized as a recognized meeting and commercial exchange place for collectors of two and four wheels. There are restorers, car showrooms and car dealers, dealers in accessories and automobiles, but above all private individuals, institutions, clubs and associations.
