The news came a few hours ago, however surprising up to a certain point, of the increases in the. for both cars and motorcycles. Antonio Catricalà, president of theantitrust which released some data relating to the trend of costs ofRC cars and motorbikes over the last two years. Insurance is increasingly expensive for Italian motorists and motorcyclists, a continuous upward trend which has seen increases of up to 25% for cars and up to 35% for motorcycles and scooters. Other data clarify the concern about the attitude of insurance companies: the average cost of an accident has increased by 27%, and reaches peaks of 70% in Southern Italy.

In addition to the enormous differences between the different areas of the country, the gap in the cost of Italian insurance is also large compared to the European average which stands at less than half of the insurance costs of our country. Dealers and customers have long complained and reported situations of sudden and disproportionate increases in the cost of insurance for both four- and two-wheeled vehicles. A factor that necessarily negatively affects the already not very prosperous automotive and motorcycle market. Sales struggle to recover if in some cases the annual premium costs more than the motorbike itself. After Catricalà's words, it is expected that the antitrust may open an investigation against the insurance companies, presumed guilty of having violated the rules regulating competition.
