A summary proposed by BER Racing Europe and edited by Francesco Bombarda, Communication & Marketing manager.
The first model Arai Tour-X dates back to 2001 and the specimen Tour-X 4, as reported, represents a combination between the functional aspects of a helmet designed for those who appreciate off-road activity and those of a full-face helmet, looking in particular at the peak and the visor itself.
Among the aspects already highlighted in a previous article article, the outer shell is made of SFL, a light and resistant super fiber laminate. The ventilation is connected to diffusers that support a venturi effect on the area behind, considering a double inlet to maximize the air flow and attenuate noise. There is an air intake under the sun visor which conveys the air flow inside and there is also a closable ventilation hole on the chin guard to manage the flow near the chin, also avoiding, for example, the entry of debris. Then side vents underneath, vent on the neck roll and brow ventilation.
The Arai Tour-X 4 helmet can be used with or without a sun visor, but also with or without a visor, for example by using glasses.
The internal parts, then, are replaceable to be sanitized, with multiple types of thickness to ensure a functional fit, as indicated. Sizes from XS to XXL are available.
Among the solutions indicated there is also an emergency release system to facilitate access in the event of a possible accident; a 5mm “Peel Away” system with 5mm padded inserts located on the cheek pads/ear pads and temple padding, maximizing space and a Facial Contour System (FCS) to optimize the fit in the jaw area and employing a spring support in the cheek pads generating a “rebound effect”. There is a sun visor with air channeled into the front ventilation holes for cooling and the use of multiple exhaust ports to mitigate a lifting effect at high speeds, as mentioned.
