The helmet has always been the most important accessory for the protection of motorcyclists and Arai, with its continuous technological development, has always been one of the undisputed leaders in this sector.
Today we focus on a particular model that this Japanese company kindly gave us to test, the Renegade-V.

Features and test

This is a product developed specifically for motorcyclists in the segment Cruiser, Custom e Café Racer as it embodies the unique and personal style of these riders.
From an aesthetic point of view, the helmet appears massive and aggressive but at the same time elegant and streamlined; a simple and clean design but with great impact.
The outer shell is handmade, as per tradition Arai, overlapping various layers of fiber fixed together with particularly resistant patented resins which allowed the opening of the visor to be further enlarged.
The level of protection has been further increased by Peripheral Belt which stabilizes and stiffens the shell in one of its weakest points (the visor opening edges), avoiding the generation of cracks or breakages in the event of an impact.
The internal one in EPS Arai it is made of differentiated density in a single piece to guarantee greater protection. Thanks to this solution, the internal shell is optimized based on the natural conformation of the head in order to offer the best shock absorption capacity.
To offer the rider maximum comfort even after hours of use, the heat exchange and ventilation flow have been improved. The internal channels of the chin guard, derived fromArai RX-7V, have been connected to the rear extractors in order to prevent fogging even in harsh conditions of use.
The air vents have a dual function: when they are open the duct allows free access of air inside the helmet while when they are closed they work as extractors, forcing the hot air to escape from inside the shell.
We had the opportunity to test all these features during a very hot day on the hills of Bobbio driving the new Suzuki Katana and the result was surprising.
After hours of driving on these beautiful roads, with an external temperature of over 30°C, the helmet never fogged up, not even during stops, and the excellent ventilation allowed us to sweat very little while traveling.
The excellent wearing comfort is achieved thanks to the soft and padded interior in Antimicrobial Material, a material that boasts deodorant properties and which naturally helps to maintain the skin's pH unaltered.
The visor offers a wide field of vision, is adjustable to multiple positions and integrates comfortable air vents that allow it to flow over the visor preventing fogging.
Another noteworthy detail is the acoustic comfort at high speed. The new Arai Renegade V It boasts excellent aerodynamic penetration which avoids the formation of vortices and turbulence which we perceive as annoying noise.
To further improve the level of comfort in everyday use and travel Arai has created, as an option, the Pro Shade System, an external smoked visor superimposed on the standard transparent one. This additional visor combines the advantages of a transparent one with those of a darkened one, in fact by varying its position from open to closed you can decide the level of protection based on the light conditions.
A simple gesture with your hand is enough to switch from transparent to smoked visor in a few seconds and without having to make any compromises.
The only negative aspect concerns the weight which, although not creating too many problems when driving, is a little high (about 1700 grams).

Considerations

Again Arai has managed to create a product with an aggressive and fashionable look that perfectly embodies the construction philosophy that has always distinguished this company, that is, quality craftsmanship and high performance, always keeping safety first.
