During EICMA 2018, the historic Japanese helmet brand Arai presented two interesting innovations: the Profile-V and the Jet SZ-R VAS.

The Profile-V is a completely new full-face helmet that takes inspiration from the models used in MotoGP. Cutting-edge technology and leading technical features are the peculiarities of the new entry level helmet from the Arai family, as they tell us at the stand: “It is the new entry level of the Arai range which has been completely redesigned. The novelty mainly concerns the visor which inherited the technology from MotoGP. Now just one finger is enough to open and close." All thanks to VAS Max Vision Pinlock Ready technology. “The ventilation system has also been redesigned, with two more air intakes. Two in the front area and three in the rear area, plus two extractors. All without weakening the helmet. The visor can be changed very easily. To remove it, just press the levers, lower the visor and remove it, same thing as installing a new one. The helmet features an anti-fog visor. The design version will start at 579 euros, while the plain version will cost 469 euros on the list.”

In addition to the full-face helmet, Arai has launched the new Jet SZ-R VAS, a top of the range that takes inspiration from its 'predecessors' for comfort and safety, but which also winks at the latest innovations, such as the new mechanism for Variable Axis System visor which makes removal intuitive and at the same time increases safety. The outer shell has been completely redesigned. Also interesting is the system for opening and locking the visor, which is simple to operate with gloves.

“The previous model is a reference for safety and comfort, unattainable to date.” They tell us at the Arai stand: “The new SZ-R VAS is a jet with 5 different densities of polystyrene. The helmet requires a minimum of two impact tests, with the addition of a penetration test. We have 7 vents, inherited from the helmet used in MotoGP. The visor system has been completely revised. The interior is completely removable and there is a pocket inside where you can place your earphones. In the SZ-R VAS design version it will be listed at 749 euros, while in the plain version it will be listed at 639 euros".
