Aprilia Tuono 660 Factory: a compact example of amplified sportiness [PHOTO]

Weight of 181 kg and 100 horsepower

coloration Factory Dark and a functional weight/power ratio. The new Aprilia Tuono 660 Factory it is a new example of high-performance dynamism.

The motorcycle

A setup distinguishable from the aforementioned graphics Factory Dark which covers the aerodynamic lines of the twin-cylinder naked and a single-seater tail in black and red, associated as standard together with the saddle and footrests for the passenger. These, like those of the rider, are the same as the Aprilia RS 660, lighter in weight.
The presence of electronic controls is interesting APRC with Ride-by-Wire electronic throttle and a six-axis inertial platform. Considering the accelerometers and gyroscopes contained within it, this solution identifies the condition of the motorbike in relation to the road, captures and analyzes the inputs deriving from driving and transmits the data to the control unit which acts on the control parameters. The APRC includes solutions such as: ACC (Aprilia Cruise Control) to have a set speed; the AEB (Aprilia Engine Brake) which represents an adjustable control of the engine braking; the AEM (Aprilia Engine Map) with various mappings to change the character and delivery; the adjustable traction control system with refined intervention logics and ATC (Aprilia Traction Control) performance; the AQS (Aprilia Quick Shift), the electronic gearbox for quick gear changes without closing the throttle or using the clutch and with a downshift function when downshifting and the AWC (Aprilia Wheelie Control) for adjustable wheelie management.
The introduction of an inertial platform also made it possible to use a "bending lights" function with additional headlights linked to the LED front light unit with perimeter DRL signatures. They also stand out five Riding Modes customisable, of which three can be used on the road and two on the track with automatic tuning of the ABS and other parameters including engine braking, traction control and wheelie control.
There is also a solution Multi-map cornering ABS contained in weight and dimensions, refining braking and ABS intervention when cornering with a specific algorithm that keeps various aspects under control, managing the action of the brakes to combine stopping and stability.

Technology

The weight/power ratio has been refined, one of the crucial aspects of the Aprilia models with 660 units, given the use of a low-weight lithium battery for an overall weight loss of approximately 2 kg, with a curb weight of 181 kg given the increased engine performance.
The specimen is equipped with suspensions more suitable for sporting use, considering a Kayaba fork with 41 mm adjustable in hydraulics in compression and rebound and in spring preload, together with a Sachs shock absorber with separate reservoir it is adjustable in rebound, compression and spring preload.
The engine is a forward-facing twin-cylinder of 660 cc with double overhead camshaft distribution and four valves per cylinder which is load-bearing and in the rear part houses the aluminum swingarm.
The maximum power rises from 95 horsepower of a Tuono 660 to 100 horses on this model at 10.500 rpm. A more incisive response in acceleration, also considering the adoption of a shorter final drive, with a 16-tooth pinion, one less than a Tuono 660, as reported. The maximum torque remains at altitude 67 Nm at 8.500 rpm with 80% available from 4.000 rpm, which rises to 90% reaching 6.250 rpm.
