Reported by French colleagues, previews of the Aprilia RS 660, presented as a concept at the last edition of the international event dedicated to cycles and motorcycles, which is staged in the Rho Fiera Milano space

THEAprilia RS 660 Concept, considering what was previously reported by the Noale company, represents a redefinition of the very concept of sportsmanship. The preview of a new proposal that could be introduced in 2020 and shown, in definitive form, at the next edition of EICMA. The well-known international event dedicated to cycles and motorcycles is scheduled between the days 7 e 10 di November.

From concept to product

According to an article reported in the transalpine newspaper Moto-Station, questioned right on RS 660 introduced in 2018 in prototype form a EICMA (also accompanied by the words “coming soon”), the spokespersons of the Piaggio Group they pointed out that the development of the new twin-cylinder sports bike is proceeding regularly, suggesting that a commercial debut can be envisaged in 2020. An arrival that would in turn be anticipated by a presentation of the definitive version at the event EICMA, next November.
Interesting rumors therefore, although there are still several questions surrounding this motorbike: for example the weight, the thrust expressed by the engine, a possible weakened version, considering the previous information linked to the prototype.
The concept is developed around a new, rather compact, forward-facing parallel twin engine 660 cc, derived from V4 di 1100 cc already present on the models Aprilia Tuono V4 e RSV4 1100 Factory. A unit characterized by relative heat dispersion, as reported. A configuration which, at the same time, allows the development of an equally compact chassis, functional from a technical and also aesthetic point of view, evaluating the slim and sharp appearance. A basis for further strengthening the Aprilia range, in a crucial segment.
Among the interesting aspects of the RS 660 Concept There is also an aluminum frame and swingarm. The frame itself hinges on the engine, which is a "stressed element" within a solid framework. The curved configuration of the right arm of the swingarm, then, allows the passage of the exhaust terminal and the shock absorber works constantly without the use of leverage, further saving on the overall weight, as reported on the occasion.
