Ape Piaggio: 70 years to celebrate with two new models

Ape Piaggio rhymes with friendliness but also success, because the most famous three-wheeler in the world can boast a truly unique history in the commercial vehicle sector (and not only). Ape it is known everywhere for its versatility and practicality, as well as for being a symbol of Italy on the move. Today this popular model celebrates 70 years and for the occasion two new models were presented: Bee 50 Euro 4 and the limit edition Ape Calessino 70°.

Piaggio Ape: the story

The first Ape it saw the light way back in 1947, a few months after the debut of the Vespa, but reached its full commercialization in 1948 and today. In seventy years of life it is a means that we can find not only within national borders, but in every part of the world, up to the most extreme Asia. Piaggio has decided to celebrate a true cornerstone of its production with a three-day long party, EuroApe 2018, from today Friday 21st to Sunday 23rd September, which animated the municipality of Salsomaggiore to the joy of the mayor Filippo Fritelli"Thank you for giving prestige to our locality which has a long history of tourism and traditions. We talked about this event last November in a fairly informal meeting with company top management who appreciated the locations that we can make available. We are happy to be able to host an event that celebrates part of Italy's recent history".

EuroApe 2018: the event

EuroApe 2018 is an event organized by Ape Club of Italy in collaboration with Piaggio Commercial Vehicles, with the patronage of the city of Salsomaggiore Terme, to involve Ape fans, enthusiasts and curious with a rich program of activities that will span the whole weekend. He was also there to do the honors Jean Claude Aiazzi, president of the Ape Club of Italy: “IOur club was founded in 2006 to try to unite the entire history of the Ape, from the industrial vehicles, to the street food vehicles based on the Ape Classic and the retouched and stranger ones. Doing it in this location is beautiful“. EuroApe 2018 will welcome the picturesque caravan of friendly three-wheelers who will reach Salsomaggiore in these hours and their crews who took part in the solidarity tour "Apeggiando per l'Italia", a road trip around the Peninsula which will end in Salsomaggiore. Throughout the weekend, the numerous and evocative excursions and guided tours scheduled to discover the surrounding area will also depart from the Ape Village. Ape, after all, is a vehicle suitable for every journey, thanks to its all-wheel drive and the fact that it can pass through every alley: as the politicians of Lisbon understood who decided to equip the city with 300 models for the promotion of tourism.

Ape is history, but also present and future and for this reason EuroApe is the perfect opportunity to present two beautiful innovations: Bee 50 Euro 4 e Ape Calessino 70°.

Ape 50, successfully present on the roads since 1969, is the most compact commercial vehicle in the world and can be driven from 14 years of age only with a license. Now it is renewed by introducing an innovative 50 cc 2-stroke engine with electronic injection, capable of complying with the stringent Euro 4 emissions regulations without sacrificing performance and technical and aesthetic updates that enhance its natural practicality and versatility.

Ape Calessino 70° is a special version, made in just 70 numbered examples, created to celebrate Ape's seventieth birthday. The dedicated Neptune Blue color and precious details underline the glamorous style of this elegant version, a tribute to the history of a vehicle with a unique personality, a synthesis between modernity and typically Italian tradition.
