ANCMA: safe parking for two-wheeled vehicles in schools

In a released statement, ANCMA (National Association of Cycle Motorcycle Accessories) calls for the promotion and implementation of safe parking for bicycles and motorcycles in various schools, highlighting that “the reopening of schools has marked the change in urban mobility trends, confirming greater use of two wheels”.

Some advice shared with the company was also reported fairy tale (Italian Environment and Bicycle Federation), in order to discourage any risk: “always fold the bicycle and choose quality products to do so, anchor the vehicle to a fixed point, in sight and as high as possible, possibly do not use quick release wheels and saddle, use a second lock where possible, register it in the Cycle Registry , always report and protect yourself from careless purchases by requesting written documents certifying the sale and the description of the bike purchased.”
As indicated: “The increase in the circulation of two-wheeled vehicles necessarily raises alarm bells also regarding the risk of theft, a phenomenon which mainly concerns bicycles (more than 400 thousand per year in Italy) and which can still grow if you look at the numbers ”.
According to information, the bicycle market grew by 60% immediately after the lockdown period, with approximately 200.000 more units sold in May compared to the previous year, considering the positive levels linked to the seasonal market. The values ​​in the motorcycle segment were also positive, with double-digit increases for three months and +41,2% in August.
The association that against bike theft has promoted and sponsored the Ciclo Registro, a centralized national database created in collaboration with the Municipalities and the Police Forces (www.cicloregistro.it), adds on the occasion: “Where possible, it is necessary to think about setting up safe parking areas within the school complexes or in adjacent areas, as well as ad hoc methods or times for opening and closing the gates, in order to discourage theft and provide greater security. to students and protect their families' investment in sustainable mobility".
