"Quadricycles are in all respects vehicles assimilated to motor vehicles from a legislative, production design point of view and have nothing to do with cars". This was specified in a Confindustria ANCMA note, referring to the crash tests carried out by EuroNCAP on some heavy quadricycles which showed a lower passive safety compared to real cars of similar dimensions.

In this regard Confindustria ANCMA specifies that "for example, quadricycles have an approval limitation in weight, maximum speed and power. Consequently, the same test parameters used to evaluate the safety performance of cars cannot be used, as done in the EuroNCAP tests.'. The note also states that "the safety of these vehicles has recently been the subject of the European legislative process which led to the entry into force of the new EU Framework Regulation 168/2013 which defined precise safety requirements".
