Parma was awarded the2020 edition of the Urban Award, the contest created by Ludovica Casellati and organized with Anci (National Association of Italian Municipalities) which every year awards awards to the best projects related to cycling and sustainable mobility, developed by the various municipal administrations. With the success atUrban Awards 2020, Parma receives for the first time in the history of the contest an allocation of 30 bicycles proposed by one consortium of four companies associated with Confindustria ANCMA (National Association of Cycle and Motorcycle Accessories), as reported.

The bike

The Sicilian Lombard cycles with component manufacturers RMS, selle Royal e Vittoria has created a bike specially created for the Urban Award. A "sign – as indicated in a note released by ANCMA – of a cultural imprint that our companies wanted to convey with this gesture, of how public and private can potentially create important synergies for the spread of bicycle use in urban centers and of how actively our members are involved in this process ”.
“The industry in the sector exists and is strong in its association: we decided to make an effort to shine a spotlight in our own way on the good practices that this competition rewards and – the entrepreneurs involved indicated – we did so by bringing together the our energies, each with its own production peculiarities, to donate these thirty bicycles to the Municipality of Parma. For us it represents a tangible and significant investment in this city, but it is also a symbolic message for all the other municipalities that are moving in this direction".

Urban Awards 2020

The jury made up of sector experts and journalists recognized the completeness of the initiatives to promote the daily use of two wheels, considering in particular the home-work and home-school routes, supported by the city of Parma. Reference is also made to cycle infrastructure works, maintenance interventions on existing routes, the implementation of bike sharing, as well as communication projects on safety and tourism promotion associated with the use of bicycles.
